Living on the streets can get be harsh and pretty lonely. But thankfully a homeless man named César has some friends to rely on. They like to keep each other company.

They even visited him in the hospital after he was admitted.

They live on the streets too. The only difference between César and his friends is that they have four legs to his two.

A Brazilian nurse shared the story of four stray dogs coming to visit César when he came to the hospital.

Cris Mamprim was working the night shift at Hospital Regional Alto Vale in Rio do Sul in Brazil when she witnessed an unusual occurrence.

César arrived at the hospital’s emergency room around 3 a.m. with a preexisting health condition that he needed treatment and medication for.

César usually goes to a different facility for treatment so he had to sit down and talk about his condition with the hospital staff.

That’s when Mamprim noticed something strange outside the hospital’s door.

It was César’s crew. And his crew just happened to be a pack of dogs. Mamprin witnessed a group of four dogs who congregated outside the hospital door and seemed to be waiting for César’s release.

César said he will often give up food and give it to his canine friends so that they can eat.

“They are all well taken care of and chubby,” Mamprim told The Dodo. “Seeing them like that, waiting at the door, only shows how much they are cared for and loved.”

The dogs ended up sitting down and getting comfy while they patiently waited for César.

The nurses didn’t want to make the dogs worry about their friend so they decided to let the dogs inside to keep him company. They also treated César and his dogs to a nice meal.

“Believe me, he ate some and saved a bit to give the dogs later,” Mamprim said.

César was discharged from the hospital after about an hour with his dog following behind him.

“He has the best companions with him,” Mamprim said.

“I do not know what his life is like, or why he’s on the street, but I admire the respect and love he has for his little animals […] If only everyone were like this.”

While César may not be rich with earthly possessions he is rich in love and friendship.
