When Blossom first arrived at WOOF Pet Rescue Society in Oklahoma, she was in bad shape.
The poor dog was found cowering on the front porch of an abandoned house. A few good Samaritans tried to catch her, but they had no luck. Finally, a woman named Erika told WOOF Pet Rescue about Blossom, and they quickly hurried over to the house.
The rescue team began trying to catch Blossom, but it wasn’t easy.
“It wasn’t an easy catch, she did not want to be on the catch-pole and fought us all the way to the crate that we had waiting, but once secure in the crate she settled down and by the time we got to WOOF she was happy to be near us and although still cautious, seemed to be relaxed enough to enjoy some human contact,” WOOF wrote on Facebook.
As soon as she was safely in WOOF’s care, they took her over to the vet. The vet found she had a bad case of mange, but she thankfully didn’t have any life-threatening illnesses or injuries. With lots of love and care, Blossom would make a full recovery.
After Blossom’s check-up, WOOF Pet Rescue’s staff took her for a bath. It was most likely the first bath she’d ever had in her life!
Blossom was a bit nervous when the staff started washing her and lathering soap into her fur. But soon, she started to relax, and she began to trust the people helping her. Plus, it seemed like she simply enjoyed being pampered!
After her bath, Blossom stayed in the tub for a few minutes, relaxing and enjoying the feeling of being loved. This sweet dog clearly enjoyed her bath, and she looked great afterward too!
Blossom stayed at WOOF Pet Rescue for a few more weeks. The staff gave her medicated baths twice a day to help heal her mange. Soon, the dog’s brown fur began to grow back. Blossom also started to come out of her shell—she loved hanging out with the shelter staff and the other dogs.
One of the families who helped rescue Blossom completely fell in love with her. They visited her as often as they could, and they quickly started bonding.
When Blossom was ready to go to her forever home, the family volunteered to adopt her. Blossom was so excited to go home with her new family!
Blossom is doing great in her new home. She loves napping on the couch, and she also enjoys playing fetch with her human brother and sisters. We’re sure she also still enjoys bath-time!
