People are finishing the statement “my dog looks like…” with hilarious photos

Ever heard from a stranger that your dog looks like something – or someone – else? We might spend so much time with our pups that we don’t realize they’re a spitting image of a cartoon character, another animal, or even a famous actor.

The popular Facebook group called Dogspotting Society has started a new #LookAlikeChallenge, where dog owners are sharing pics of what themselves and others think their pups look like. There are some absolutely brilliant submissions here, so let’s waste no time in jumping right into it!

1. Clint Eastwood

He might be known for being one of the most famous Hollywood stars in the 1960s, but Clint Eastwood has more going for him than that – he also has a dog lookalike! According to this pup’s owner, the older he’s got, the more he looks like Clint. We can totally see it.

2. Look away monkey puppet

Remember the look away monkey puppet that became a meme way back when? Some say it’s based off this dog. Joking, they don’t really, but they both share the same look in their eyes, for sure.

3. Meerkat

Looks like this person’s dog was swapped at birth for a meerkat. Either that or it was raised by a tribe of meerkats when it was a growing pup. His long ears are the only real giveaway that he’s actually a dachshund.

4. Toothless

Toothless the dragon, in case you didn’t know, is a 21-year old male Night Fury appearing in the How To Train Your Dragon franchise. It’s kinda niche, but there’s no denying that this dog has got a Toothless sort of look about him. We’re not sure thast’s much of a compliment, though…

5. Disaster Girl

The Disaster Girl meme is another one that we still occasionally see today. This pup has the right location and the right expression to pull this off. Now she just needs to grow her hair.

6. Dobby

Bella the chihuahua has a slightly unflattering lookalike: Dobby the house-elf from Harry Potter. Let’s hope she isn’t quite as crazy as Dobby! Her biggest magic trick is probably just tearing up a pillow in the middle of the night, so it’s all good.

7. Charlie bit my finger

Ah, those beginning internet days. Only a handful of videos existed online, and one of them was the infamous “Charlie bit my finger”. When this person took a pic of their dogs, they managed to get a pretty realistic replication by pure accident. One of the dogs is even called Charlie.

8. Sid

Now, we all know a human who looks a bit like Sid the Sloth from Ice Ige (admit it, you do). But he’s got a few dog lookalikes, too. The jack russell on the right certainly gives Sid a good run for his money.

9. Fox

Here we present: “Anita Foxy Loxy”, as referred to by her owner. She’s a mix of German Shephard and something unknown. Her owner was hoping fox, but apparently dogs can’t mate with foxes like coyotes and wolves can. She’s a fox to us!

10. Pinky and the Brain

This dog, hilariously named Stevie Nyx, apparently gives the meanest stink eye of all time. There could be any reason for it, but this time she was tired of her oner taking pics. She hates the paparazzi… We totally see the Pinky and the Brain resemblance here.

11. Strutting Leo

Here’s a recent meme to look back on: strutting Leo. As used in all sorts of random internet scenarios (look it up if you don’t believe us). It’s pretty easy for any dog to mimic this meme, provided it looks ridiculously happy-slash-proud of something. Like this dog does.

12. Feather duster

It’s not always people or other animals that dogs look like – sometimes it’s inanimate objects. Like feather dusters, for instance. This might just be our favorite type of dog… just look how floofy!

13. Yipyip

No amount of research can help us discover who the guy on the top is. But the owner of the dog on the bottom shared their photo with the word “yipyip!”. Answers on a postcard, please. Suppose they do look fairly similar.

14. Hairrison Furd

Harrisson Ford, as known for his role in “Star Wars” and just about every other film that exists, can add a new tool to his arsenel: a dog that looks like him. Specifically him in his younger days. It’s that half-smile that both makes both him and the golden retriever on the left so similar.

15. Burly kangaroo

We’ve all seen the burly kangaroo on the right, but what happens when a dog looks like him? According to the owner, the pup only weighs 13 pounds. Either way, we would not want to see a fight break out between those two…

16. Porg

Kuzco the cutie is #blessed to resemble another cute being, unlike many of the dogs featured here. She looks like a porg from the latest Star Wars movies. She’s even got the big eyes and the downturned mouth – someone give her a starring role!

17. Rod Stewart

Like most people in the 80s, Rod Stewart had some crazy hair in his heyday. This makes it very easy to compare photos of his past self with those of fluffy dogs. We’d never tell the difference between these two if we saw them together in a club – how about you?

18. Scrat

We’ve got another Ice Age character here! (apparently they’re just too easy to impersonate). The owner of this unique looking pup shared their photo, writing: “I am told that Aadi looks like Scrat all the time. If anything, I think Scrat looks like Aardi 😜”

19. John Travolta

You have to squint to believe this one, guys. Now, the husky on these photos is certainly a handsome dog, and John Travolta is certainly a handsome man. Perhaps that’s enough to say that they’re lookalikes? Either way, lots of people are seeing it.

20. 80s fitness dude

The 80s was a beautiful time to look back on for many reasons. While we’re kind of sad that neon lycra, sweatbands and perms aren’t really a thing anymore, at least we can look back on what once was. And compare our dogs to 80s workout men.

21. Couple of cows

You wouldn’t want to put these pugs in a field of cows, just in case they ended up being mistaken for very tiny calves. We’d be fooled if we were partially blind, although we would wonder why cows had such stumpy legs all of a sudden. Cute markings, though!

22. Snoop Dog

Snoop dog was destined to have dogs compared to him – he’s even got the word “dog” in his name. And this isn’t just a partial resemblance, either. If you saw both their faces in a dark room, you wouldn’t know who to pet and who to strike up a conversation with.

23. Einstein

Einstein is famous for a lot of incredible things, the most important of all being his hair. (Obviously not.) It’s quite easy to replicate white floof on a dog, which is why Einstein has so many dog lookalikes, we guess. The dog on the left really does have an old man look about him.

24. Richard Gere

He’s another famous actor who can add “dog lookalikes” to his CV – we’re talking about Richard Gere, of course. Gender means nothing here, as Krystoff the girly girl looks a lot like her actor friend. It’s the bushy eyebrows that do it.

25. The mayo man

If you managed to avoid all things Mayo Man related, good for you. All you need to know is that the guy put mayo in his hair. This pup definitely has the same head shape as his idol (okay, “idol” is probably pushing it).

26. Side-eye meme girl

We’re taking you right back to the beginning internet days again with the side-eye meme girl. Who could forget her? (Also, look her up online, – she’s like, 10 now). Two-legged Maggie May has the undeniable shifty side-eye look about her.

27. Dug from Up!

The characters from “Up!” were based off real people, so it makes sense that Dug the dog looks a bit like dogs that exist right now. These two look like they’re long-lost brothers. He’s just missing the leather collar.

28. Bike seat

Like we said, sometimes it’s the inanimate objects that dogs look like the most (and honestly, these are the funniest). Ever looked at your dog and thought, “Hey, his head looks kind of like a bike seat”? Well, this person did, and we totally see it.

29. Harry the Hunter

Beetlejuice’s Harry the Hunter is someone you’d probably be very offended to even bear the smallest likeness to. That said, with her bulging eyes and her ears back, this pug is looking a bit Harry-like. Sorry, but you can’t deny the truth…

30. Shark

When you think you adopted a husky but he’s actually part-shark… We’d much rather see that floofy head coming towards us in the water than a shark’s open mouth, however. Though both would look slightly terrifying in the dark.

31. Egyptian dog

You know you’re something special when you resemble a god or godess from the past. This is actually a really interesting insight into the kinds of dog breeds that were around in the Egyptian times! Because there’s no denying the guy on the right is an ancestor of the guy on the left.

32. Highland cow

We’ve already seen dog versions of your typical spotty cows, but here’s another cow breed: the highland cow. Fluffy, brown, and kind of cute, these cows are adapted for living in colder climates. And so is this part-highland dog, by the looks of things.

33. Hershey’s Cookies N’ Cream

This dog’s owner can’t look at her without getting hungry, because there’s no denying her resemblance to Hershey’s Cookies N’ Cream. A word of advice: don’t actually try to eat the dog. It won’t end well.

34. Falkor

Falkor, a Luck Dragon, is one of main characters from the “Neverending Story” (yeah, this one’s a bit niche again). Whether you have a clue who Falkor is or not, you can probably see the resemblance between him and this pup. They both have an old man look about them.

35. Pennywise

Of all the people to be likened to, a terrifying clown might just be the worst. But this dog’s owner was quick to point out: “He doesn’t always look like pennywise but still always looks goofy”. Phew – now we can sleep at night.

36. Baby seal

Is there anything cuter than a fluffy, chubby, white baby seal? Oh yeah, there is: a flurry, chubby, white baby golden retriever. There’s not much difference, except one has four paws and a tail.

37. Little Mermaid

Okay, Ariel, quiet down – we can all pose in front of a body of water if we want to. Even this pug has nailed his Ariel impersonation. Wonder if he looks as pretty while swimming through the water?

38. Bably seal #2

Apparently dogs and baby seals are basically the same, but with different body parts. This pup looks like he’s jut had a bath, and with his ears out of shot, he’s totally seal-like. Look at those big, innocent eyes!

39. Dumbo

We all fell in love with Dumbo in the latest version of the Disney film. There was no way you could be mad at that little slightly chaotic elephant, and the same goes for this pup. He really does have big elephant ears – probably hasn’t grown into them yet.

40. Old-time couple

We’re totally fooled that the old doggo couple on the left are actually humans in disguise. Specifically the slightly unhappy-looking old-time couple on the right. Why is this so amusing?

41. Shameless’ Frank Gallagher

Again, of all the people to be likened to, Frank Gallagher from “Shameless” probably isn’t at the top of most people’s lists. We have to admit, the dog on the right does have a “perpetually unemployed, absentee single parent” look about him. Think it’s the eyes.

42. The Rock

Some dogs are blessed with the most special, unique markings. In this dog’s case, his eye marking makes it look like he’s raising an eyebrow – and of course, from that, The Rock springs to mind. Now, while no dog can quite live up to The Rock in our eyes, we can see it… sort of.

43. Baby Yoda

Baby Yoda was the 2019 trend we were living for, a sign of much more normal times (bring back those days). This person gets to live their “Star Wars” fantasy every day, with a pup who bears a striking resemblance to Baby Yoda himself. Wonder what it is that makes them so similar…

44. The Grinch

Appropriate for the holiday season, this owner admitted that their pup looks a bit like the Grinch. We can see it – it’s the snout and downturned mouth. As long as he doesn’t try to steal Christmas, it’s all good.

45. Baked potato

Maggie the boxer has the best “ice breaker” line of all: “I sort of look like a baked potato”. But you have to see her asleep in her dog bed to believe this. That’s when the full thing comes in to effect.

46. Baby hippo

Baby hippos are surprisingly cute, you know – and they pretty cool, too, spending 16 hours a day in the water! While we’re not sure this doggo is quite so fond of lakes and rivers, he does have a baby hippo look about him. He’s the perfect shade of hippo grey.

47. Bolt

It’s another dog that looks like a Disney dog! It’s pretty easy to see why this pup is likened to Bolt. It’s not only his white fur, but also his long, pointy ears and round, black nose. Who copied who here?

48. Icing sugar brownie

Again, we repeat: as much as your dogs may occasionally look like food, do not attempt to eat them. This dog looks like a brownie sprinkled with icing sugar. It’s not cool markings, unfortunately – it’s just a dog in the snow.

49. E.T

Back to another character that everyone would love to look like: E.T himself. Put most dogs in a dressing gown and they’d probably bear a small E.T resemblance. But this pup is basically E.T’s brother. Let’s hope he doesn’t get tired of earth anytime soon.

50. Eeyore

And finally, take one look at the droopy ears and doleful Depression of this cutie and you can only see one thing: eeyore. Eeyore is, of course, supposed to be a donkey, but we think he’s got some dog-like features, too. Someone give them both a hug!
