In the early hours of a Thursday morning, a fire ignited in the basement of Champ’s home.

The family, sound asleep, was oblivious to the looming danger. But Champ was alert and ready.

As smoke filled the house and flames began to spread, Champ sprang into action.

His mission? To wake up his sleeping family and ensure they escaped the dangerous situation.

“Champ saves the day!” the Ontario Provincial Police shared in a post.

“He alerted his owners, and everyone made it to safety. What a good boy!”

Firefighters arrived soon after, managing to put out the fire.

But the praise for Champ didn’t stop there.

The brave dog, who had been the family’s savior that morning, was showered with an outpouring of “good boys” from people online.

These were well-deserved praises from a public that admired his bravery.

“What a good, good boy! Way to go, Champ!” one person commented. “Champ, you are awesome,” another added.

And they were right.

Champ was indeed awesome.

While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, authorities are using this incident to emphasize the importance of fire safety.

They pointed out how the situation could have taken a tragic turn if Champ hadn’t been there.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department wrote, “Not everyone has a Champ. Smoke alarms are a key part of a home fire escape plan. When there is a fire, smoke spreads fast. Working smoke alarms will give you early warning so you can get out quickly. Check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms today!”

After all, not everyone has a Champ to save the day.

But we can all take steps to protect ourselves and our loved ones from potential dangers.

And as for Champ, he continues to be the good, good boy he’s always been, now with a heroic tale to his name.
