Elephants are some of the most amazing and impressive creatures on the planet.

Not only are these gentle giants the largest living land animals, they’re also highly intelligent and emotional creatures, able to forge strong bonds with their friends and family members.

We can see a wonderful example of that here, as a whole herd of these extraordinary creatures charge right across a field to greet a newly rescued orphan elephant.

The clip was filmed at Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, a non-profit elephant sanctuary in the Chiang Mai province of Northern Thailand.

Established back in the 1990s, the Elephant Nature Park has helped to save the lives of countless elephants over the years, preserving this beautiful and sadly endangered species, while providing safety, security, shelter, and loving care for elephants in need.

And on this very special day for the Elephant Nature Park, a newly rescued baby elephant named Dok Geaw was about to meet his new herd.

Tragically, little Dok Geaw, who was only one year and nine months old at the time the video was made, was an orphan.

He’d lost his parents and been left all alone, but luckily, the rescue workers of Elephant Nature Park had managed to find him and bring him somewhere safe.

They’d placed him in a little enclosure, and the rest of the herd seemed to sense that a new friend had arrived and simply couldn’t wait to meet him!

The adorable clip begins with most of the elephants off in the distance, suddenly starting to run towards the camera.

It’s amazing to see these mighty animals in motion, and when we see them all running together, we really feel just how impressive and awe-inspiring they truly are.

Eventually, they make their way over to the enclosure and all start poking their trunks inside to say hello to the little one.

Poor Dok Geaw probably felt quite frightened having lost his parents and suddenly being taken away somewhere totally different, but all those kind greetings from his new adoptive family must have helped him feel right at home!

It’s super sweet to see all the elephants trying to peer through the gaps in the fence and say hello, their tails swinging happily from side to side and all the herd together as one, welcoming their brand new member.

The wonderful video was uploaded to YouTube, where the caption rightly states that Dok Geaw shouldn’t have too much trouble finding his new family! It looks like the other members of the herd are more than happy to accept him as one of their own, and this just shows the kindness and care these creatures can be capable of.

More than 11 million people have watched the magic unfold for themselves, with tens of thousands of likes and positive comments too, and many people saying that the heartwarming clip made their day.
