There’s nothing that brightens our day more than seeing two animals have an adorable bond together. Especially when one of those animals is not your typical household pet!
Have you ever seen a hedgehog become friends with a cat before? If not, we’re about to make your day with these adorable pictures.
Hedgehogs are wild animals who are normally pretty nervous around humans and other animals. They’re known as ‘the gardener’s friend’ because they generally hang out in people’s gardens eating slugs, worms, and other creepy crawlies.
Now if you were the owner of a pet kitten, your instincts would probably tell you to keep your little fur baby as far away from these spiky little guys as possible.
But for one kitty, the day she met a hedgehog was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Meet Audree the Bengal kitten, who lives in Germany with her owner Talitha.
This sweet little girl took to Herbee the hedgehog from the moment they met, and now the pair do everything together!
The two unlikely friends especially love to travel together, and this is all documented in the most adorable pictures that Talitha shares onto the pair’s Instagram account, @mrpokee.
The account is so popular that the pair now has over 1.8 million followers on Instagram, and it’s not hard to see why!
Not only are the photos beautifully taken and edited, Audree and Herbee really are the stars of the show and always smile perfectly for the camera.
It seems as if Herbee the hedgehog is fairly accustomed to being a household pet.
Talitha told Bored Panda:
“A few months after I adopted Herbee from a girl who couldn’t keep him due to severe allergic reactions, I adopted Audree. She was three months old when I got her and she was originally already reserved for someone who wanted to breed with her. But the lady canceled on her two days before I called,”
Talk about divine timing!
But how did Talitha know that the pair were going to get on? Adopting a little kitten and having to introduce her to your pet hedgehog isn’t something that many of us are used to doing! Talitha said:
“It has been my dream for so many years to have a cat and Bengals get along well with other pets. I wanted a special cat that would go on adventures and travel with me, so there wasn’t much choice on the breed. And then one night I had a dream that I had a Bengal cat that I took on adventures and we became the best friends ever.”
Little did Talitha know, her dreams were about to become a reality!
Talitha found Audree on Google, and after contacting the owner, she knew immediately that this little kitty was for her! But first, she needed to check if Herbee felt the same way.
Talitha took Herbee with her when she went to visit Audree once before making the final decision.
“They immediately became friends! Now they’re inseparable! Wherever Herbee goes, Audree goes. She lays down on spots where he was, they sometimes even snuggle and play together. Audree is now almost one year old!
Who knew where this friendship was going to lead? We could spend hours looking at the pair’s beautiful pictures, and we hope that their friendship continues long into the future.
