People Who “Hate” Cats Live With Them For 7 Days— Results Are Cuter Than You Think

Some people don’t like cats.

I know. As a cat lover, I don’t understand it either. Cats are amazing. They are fluffy and purry, intelligent and fun. They are the ruthless rulers of the household kingdom, swatting kitchen glasses off counters and laying on keyboards worldwide. They are majestic creatures that deserve nothing less than our respect and admiration. Still, however, some people just aren’t big fans.

Maybe they can’t stand the smell of litter. Or maybe they blame “allergies”. Who knows, maybe they were bitten by their great-Aunt Edna’s cat when they were 3 years old and haven’t recovered from the incident since. Whatever the case, I’m going to have to call bullcrap on the cat haters right now.

Realistically, even the biggest cat hater could fall in love with a cat if they gave it a chance— and that’s exactly what BuzzFeed and Rachael Ray Nutrish set out to prove with their viral video entitled, simply, ‘People Who Hate Cats Live With Cats For A Week”. Not the most creative title, but it gets the point across.

Anyways, in the video, as you’ve probably already figured out, people who claim to not like cats are given foster cats for seven days. And the end result? Well, it’s probably what you would imagine.

The video is 3-minutes long, and it begins by introducing the (future) cat lovers. A blonde woman introduces herself, saying, “Hi. My name is Kelsey Rose, and I hate cats.” The reasons for her dislike include, and I quote, “They tear everything up” and “They don’t really love you.”

(Okay, she may be half right about that one.)

The second woman seems to have had a bad experience with a cat at one point or another. She tells the camera, “I’ll never forget. It’s a little black cat… Just when you think everything was fine—” followed by (what I’m assuming are) cat attack noises.

The third participants are a couple who seem fairly ambivalent towards the idea. “I don’t like cats that much,” the female says. “I like dogs and cats are not dogs.”

Each of the cat haters were given a cat to foster for 7 days.

And it started off slowly for everyone involved.

Soon though, they started to bond.

And the cat haters got to experience the downsides of cat ownership, like the ever-present floor fur— and the good side (like the joy of kitty snuggles) too!

By the end of the 7 days, the participants had (unsurprisingly) fallen completely in love with their kitty companions.
