If Chihuahuas have the big dog syndrome, then Great Danes have the small dog syndrome. They are oblivious to their size, often behaving like oversized lapdogs. Despite their massive frame, they’re known for their gentle and affectionate nature.
Great Danes will always be large dogs with a small-dog mentality, just like the ones shown here.
Time to sleep
Close those big bloodshot eyes now.
Very comfy there
Here’s a perfect example of a Great Dane who seems completely unaware of how much bigger he is than his sibling. Or perhaps he’s fully aware and just doesn’t mind!
Big brother is watching
When he was a tiny pup, he’d hop onto the bed and beg for a lift to see what was happening outside. Now, he simply sits on the bed as if it’s the most natural thing for a dog to do.
Hold me
He got scared, so he naturally ran to his mommy for comfort. No matter how big a dog gets, he’ll always be the baby of the family.
Big spoon
His brother never mentioned his aversion to being the little spoon.
Lap times
She can’t bring herself to tell her that she’s not a lap dog. She never was, and never will be.
When all those seats are taken…
… your human becomes the emergency chair. Look around, all the other pups at the vet are sitting in their humans’ laps!
Too close, big guy
Mom always says not to watch TV too closely. But now that I’m a big boy, can I enter the TV?
Outgrew everything
Hey, guys… I can’t squeeze in here. Do they have larger tables?
Scoot over
What do you mean there’s no space on the couch? There’s plenty! I’m not THAT big.
That smile
Is the dog the one taking photos with the bunny, or is it the other way around?
Warm spot
Don’t mind me. I’ll just squeeze in here. You comfortable too, Sharon?
Custom fit for the big boy
He outgrew onesies a while ago. Since there aren’t any big enough at the stores, his owner had to sew one for him herself.
Contorted comedian
Weird positions are amusing when they’re puppies. But as adult dogs, it’s just odd.
That’s a load
You have to wonder who will be getting rides in a few months.
He fits, he sits
No one cares if he’s too big. Not even him!
Great is correct
They’ll all try to squeeze into your lap, no matter if they’re almost as big as you are.
With sprinkles on top
He refuses to give up his puppy bed, even if it means he has to sleep curled up like a donut.
Camouflage
What Great Dane? I don’t see any large black dog behind that curtain. I’m pawsitive.
Daughter called in sick
This Great Dane provided all the comfort in the world.
Poor pups
Someone please adopt their humans already.
Zoinks!
6-foot Great Dane Presley is also known as Scooby-Doo. He’s afraid of everything, from tiny dogs to plastic bags and vacuum cleaners.
Knock knock!
Hey, mom, can we keep my new friend?
Booper down
So do dogs come with warranty? Or is there a mechanic for broken dogs?
Bodyguard
Big boy protecting the new pup with his God-given size.
Looks fun
Breathing through a toilet paper tube like this for over a minute.
Cuddle time
Forever lap dogs despite outgrowing a planet.
Stranger Dogs
She obviously loves that blower her humans use.
Flight just got better
No one slept on that long flight thanks to the big boy.
Hello there, friend
Teddy Flood is the Great Dane. Little Speckle is a beagle mix. He was a foster pup here, just 7 weeks at the time.
Growth spurt
The difference one year can make on a Great Dane is staggering.
That’s a stretch
Someone sent this adorable display of pure joy between the two dogs. They finally got him a stool so he could greet his big friend.
Louis the goofy
Must be nice to have such a big, goofy dog at home.
Free ride?
Subway commute for this good boy and he fits right in.
Luna was shocked
A family squabble had her looking all bamboozled.
Certainly the goodest of all
Meet Buck, a 10-week-old Great Dane pup. He has mastered the sit command and is now part of the Good Boy Club.
Way too adorable
Really had to match each other for that extra dose of cuteness.
What’s new?
Featuring the neighborhood gossips.
No wonder he’s got biceps
From 3 months, to 6 months, to 12 months and beyond.
He’s melting
Someone catch him before he melts away quick.
