Animals always say thank you, even if it’s in their own way. Rescued animals often form incredible bonds with their rescuer, acknowledging the part they had to play in their rescue. Even when humans have continually hurt an animal, they can somehow forgive and love others.
1. Cat anxiety
Even animals can have anxiety! This little kitty named Booker didn’t have any medical issues, but he had horrible anxiety. Sometimes, he would wake up in the night and thrash around, now knowing where he was. This is him now with his loving owner!
2. Cyclist saves tiny kitten
While Viitor Fonseca was out cycling, he saw a little creature on the side of the road. Upon closer inspection, he realized that it was a kitten! He just scooped her up and took her home!
3. From Streets to Stardom
Andy is a pup that was rescued from the streets of Northern Philadelphia. The sweet dog was skinny and had a studded collar on (def not his personality). Now, he performs with the woman who rescued him!
4. Quite the sight
Woody is a “spicy” Chihuahua that has some special needs. Woody has three legs, one eye, and an amazing heart! After he was rescued from a high-kill shelter, he put that big heart to use loving!
5. Coco the pit
PETA was called about an aggressive dog that was causing problems in the area. When they showed up, they found an emaciated and neglected dog who lived outside. Look at this sweet girl now!
6. A genuine smile
This little pup was thrown into a sack in the middle of the road and left for dead! Even worse, she was tossed in there with her puppies. The kind of person who would do something like that is despicable. This is her after she was rescued!
7. When that realization hits
Benny is a dog that was living at a high kill shelter. The longer a dog is stuck at one of those shelters, the scarier it gets for them. This is him when he realizes he is getting adopted! He is almost doing flips!
8. Fire Rescue
Keith Walker is a local hero in Atlanta. He rushed into a fire to save animals that were trapped in a burning animal shelter. One of those animals was Bravo!

9. Genuine peace
This little mini-horse is showing his friend some love. He was rescued and adopted by the woman in the photo and now lives his best life!

10. A true thank you
This cow was saved from a pen by this man. After a quick romp around for the first time, she came back to say thank you. Cows really are intelligent animals!
11. Bovine joy
These 25 cows were raised for meat. Incredibly, they were given a second chance and allowed to run free in a field for the very first time. The result is amazing to see. They literally jump for joy!
12. A goodbye hug
When Jane Goodall found this little chimp, it was close to death. After rehab and some healing, it was time to say goodbye. This little one needed a goodbye hug, first!
13. Looking for help
When this shark got a hook stuck in its mouth, it swam right up to someone that they knew could help. Now, whenever a shark in the area has a stuck hook, they come to get help from this woman!
14. A whale of a story
When this whale got suck in crab nets, these divers worked to free her. When they finally released the massive animal, it swam by and brushed up against the little humans, saying thank you.
15. Returned to mama
In North Carolina, a little fawn fell into a drainage grate after a storm. When the firefighters came to help and got into the manhole, the fawn literally jumped into their arms! They then released it back into the woods where her mom was sitting and watching nervously.
16. Drainage block
One puppy in Florida ended up falling into a drainage tunnel. Firefighters rushed to help and pulled out the cutest chocolate lab puppy. They fell in love and ended up adopting her!
17. Took a tumble
This cute golden retriever was playing near a river when she fell into the water. When the firefighters showed up, the dog was desperately hanging onto a branch, hoping for someone to help. You can see the relief and love on her face!
18. Piggyback ride
This Vizsla was stuck on a hiking trail in Salt Lake City. Firefighters found her and gave her a piggyback ride all the way down the mountain. Apparently, she ran off during a fireworks display!
19. A leashed cat
George was on his way to the vet with his owner. He was on a leash for the trip but got spooked by the sound of the subway. He broke free and fell into the tracks. After frantically motioning for the train to stop, an officer finally hopped in to grab George. He literally hugged the officer’s neck!
20. Pazzy the kitten
NY Police Officer Josh Passarella pulled this little kitten from a van’s engine block, saving her life. He had to squeeze under the van and get his hands deep into the engine.
“[I’m] definitely ecstatic that someone I know personally was able to take the cat,” Passarella told the station. “Definitely gives me peace of mind knowing that it’s going to be OK.”
21. Jimbo!
Jimbo is what you call a “jumbo” bear. He is a Kodiak grizzly (the biggest kind) and lives on a 100-acre wildlife center in New York. He was orphaned as a cub and the couple that runs the facility basically treats him like their own kid. He is 1,400 pounds now.
22. Nora the rescue
Nora was in a very abusive home as a puppy. As a result, she is super tentative around people and only allows one person around her. Archie is a toddler in the family, and they love taking naps!
23. A baby moose!
Moose (mooses?) are some of the coolest animals. They are just SO big and rare. Emma is a baby moose (mooselet?) that was rescued. Now he feeds her and she comes back every day to say hello.
24. Abandoned in a fire
When this firefighter rushed into a home that burning, he didn’t find any humans. What he DID find was a puppy! He rescued the pitty and named him Jake. The two are inseparable, and Jake is a part of the fire team now!
25. Vet’s assistant
When Rademenesa was just a kitten, she showed up at the clinic with a respiratory problem. She was treated and decided to stick around! She helps out the “patients” by providing some help and comfort in a scary place.
26. Feline friend
Brazilian soldiers found this jaguar in the forest. He was little and hurt, so they decided to help. Naming him Jiquitaia, he is officially a part of the troop! He loves to play in the water (how uncatlike).
27. Two peas in a pod
They say that owners start to look like their dogs after a while. Marvin is a rescue, and it looks like they are starting to take after each other. They are officially Lay Z boys now.
28. Daily Hello
When this woman saved this Norwegian deer (elk?) from a hunter, they formed a bond. Since then, he comes to say hello each day, twice a day. Also, he gets bread.
29. An albatross on the neck [or swan, I guess]
When this man helped a swan regain it’s health after it was injured, he gained a friend. If an albatross around the neck is a bad thing, a swan has to be a good thing, right?
30. Oh deer…
Amcolie (her username) spends her days helping wild animals get healthy again. When she took in an orphaned fawn, he could barely walk from a muscle disease. After he recovered, he even made a cameo in her engagement shoot!
31. Trapped in a flood
Duke the German Shepherd was trapped in a flood with his owner in Texas. After a desperate rescue, they were both saved. It looks like Duke knows exactly who to thank for the help!
32. A good trip to the vet?
There are few circumstances where a pet actually likes going to the vet. This cute dog apparently understands that the vet is helping him, not harming him!
33. Hit and run
While driving down a road in West Virginia, one family saw a kitten get hit by a car while the driver took off. They took it in and brought her to the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee in Charleston. They named her Hallie Greer after the exit that they found her on, Hal Greer.
34. Wildfire cat
George is a young kid who heard about the wildfire in California and wanted to help. When he came home with an injured bobcat, he ended up raising it and bringing it back to health!
35. Shot by poachers
Patrick Karabaranga has a special connection with this young gorilla. Poachers shot his parents in front of him. Patrick has been an awesome friend and the two play in the park every day.
36. A bit squirrely
Bella is a squirrel that was found shortly after an owl attack. Brantley Harrison found her and helped rehab the poor animal. After releasing her back, Bella comes back every day!
37. Jupiter from the circus
Jupiter is a lion that was rescued from an abusive circus. He made a lifelong friend in Ana Torres. Jupiter has since moved on from this life, but he is loved by everyone in Columbia!
38. Radish and his leap of faith
This is Radish the piglet! He jumped out of a factory truck on its way to drop off the “finished product” and broke his jaw. When rescuers found him, they got him help and put him in an amazing forever home.
39. Deaf kitty
Corporal Nobby Nobbs is a 12-year-old cat that is totally deaf! He was found living in a garage in Texas and had been neglected for years. Karyn Poplin of Kitty Adventure Rescue League and Sanctuary found him, and it was an immediate friendship!
40. Indi the kangaroo
Indi was an orphaned kangaroo that lost her mom when she was little. She was rescued and taken to The Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs where she met people who showed her love. Just look how cute that hug is!
Animals are amazing. All of these photos just show us that thankfulness isn’t even a human thing! It’s adorable to see how happy they all are after being rescued – you would be too!
