We all went through the stage as a kid when we wanted a puppy!
The thought of having a little life that was your responsibility is often just too irresistible for a little mind to handle. For many kids, they want a puppy when they see their friend with one or sometimes when their old ones pass away. Regardless of why they want one, it seems that it may be worth the trouble!
Having a dog and a newborn may lower your risk for future allergies!
Who knew that having a dog as a baby could help with your allergies? Well, it seems that science is here to back us up. Studies may be showing that having a baby and dog together in the first year of life may reduce the risk of an allergic reaction in the future.
Researchers studied 565 18-year-olds who had been followed from birth. They found that only during the first year of life did exposure to dogs and cats have a major effect on later sensitivity to the animal (someone who is sensitized to an animal will likely have symptoms of an allergy when exposed to it).
This little boy shows us the emotional side of reasoning when he gets a puppy for the first time.
Xander is a 6-year-old boy from Springfield, Illinois who had been saving all his extra money to get a puppy. He “had the puppy itch” if you will. We have all been there! His mom, Natalie, would get home from work every day and he would ask her for her spare change to add to his pile!
Showing his dedication, Xander stopped spending money on candy and sweets!
For a 6-year-old to have the self-control to not buy candy shows us his willpower! Little Xander was really intent on getting this dog. When his grandparents found out, however, they thought it might be time to give Xander a little visit.
Xander, like any little boy, loves to see his grandparent’s car pull up in the driveway.
When Xander sees his grandparents pull up into his driveway, he runs out to see them. What little kids don’t love to see their grandparents? Part of the reason kids love them so much is that they always make sure to bring gifts! This time around, Xander was about to get a gift he would never have expected.
Xander’s grandma tells him to close his eyes and stretch out his arms.
Once his grandma gets to the house, she has a surprise in mind for the little boy. Xander runs out and she tells him to close his eyes and hold out his hands. His little mind is probably reeling with the potential candy that she could hand him!
Suddenly, he feels a little body placed into his hands.
Opening his eyes, he sees a little puppy sitting in his arms. Xander realizes that all his hard work has paid off and he has a new best friend in his arms. His face goes from absolute excitement to sobbing!
