When you were growing up, did you have that one toy that you were never without? Maybe it was a doll, a stuffed animal, or maybe even just a raggedy old blanket, but whatever it was, you just couldn’t bear to be apart from it.

Just like children with their toys, animals can form a special bond with all things cuddly and soft! It is especially common for somebody to form an attachment with something that has been with them for a long time, as a familiar object can provide a form of comfort.

There was one little kitty who was very much attached to a certain toy, so when it needed to be fixed, it was up to grandma to come to the rescue!

Meet Lucas, a sweet little cat with a fondness for one particular toy. Ever since he was a kitten, Lucas had been in love with a stuffed leopard, which used to be just about the same size as him.

Now as a fully grown cat, Lucas’ attachment to his leopard never wavered and Lucas often spends time cuddling the leopard or else licking it affectionately.

“I got the toy from my local zoo, along with a few other stuffed animals,” Alana, Lucas’ mom, told The Dodo. “He usually leaves my stuffed animals alone, but he wouldn’t leave this one alone.”

But with time, Lucas’ favorite toy began to get a bit bedraggled. Any other person would have simply thrown away such an old toy, but Alana knew just how much this leopard meant to Lucas, so she called on her grandmother to help.

The leopard was in quite a bad way after years of affection from Lucas.

“He just would go crazy for this one,” Alana said. “I’d find it in all sorts of weird places all covered in cat spit.”

When Alana’s grandma moved into the family home, she instantly took to Lucas, and she found the bond between himself and his favorite toy simply adorable. At this point, the leopard had its stuffing coming out in places and its fur was looking pretty ragged. He was in urgent need of repair!

“He’s had this toy for probably four years, and it ripped because of wear and tear,” Alana said. “My grandma moved in with us last year, and really loves Lucas. [She] saw that his favorite toy was ripped, so she sewed it back together for him.”

Adorably, Lucas seemed to be fascinated by granny’s sewing, and he had to oversee the whole operation. Of course, with the leopard being his favorite ever toy, he had to make sure that no harm came to him. Alana said:

“He watched the whole time. He was just super into what she was doing.”

When Grandma was done, she returned the toy to Lucas who was apparently “very happy” to have his best friend back again. Thanks to Grandma’s sweet act of kindness, Lucas can cuddle with his favorite toy for many more years.
