Choosing the marine life is probably one of the most courageous things in the world. Marines protect the country while being away from loved ones.
These people dedicate their lives for the sake of their nation, and their sacrifice is unfathomable, especially if they have beloved pets back home.
Any dog owner will attest to the difficulty of leaving his dog behind, even for a little period of time.
It’s a hard road.
And it gets harder the more time passes between visits.
This is why the reunions are usually so emotional when you see soldiers returning from deployment.
This is the story of Oshie, a beautiful golden retriever who got to give his mom the biggest welcome.
Nancy was deployed to Norway.
That’s about a thousand miles away from her home and family, including Oshie.
For the duo, missing each other through time and distance was inevitable.
In fact, dogs were found to have roughly the emotional intelligence of a two-year-old child.
Who hasn’t witnessed a kid missing their parents and crying relentlessly while they’re away?
In a video posted in Oshie’s World, a Youtube account created solely for the dog, Oshie and his furdad were out waiting for Nancy’s homecoming.
The video started with the good boy walking excitedly. His dad even said,
“He knows why we’re here.”
“We’re gonna see mom, Oshie!” the sweet dad told the ecstatic boy. Indeed, Oshie seemed to know that it was the day he finally gets to reunite with his mom.
The next clips showed the dog patiently waiting. A cute little kid even walked up to Oshie and patted him.
Turns out, the little girl is part of his family. They played for a bit as they wait.
After a few clips, Oshie was shown lying on the floor as if showing that he was getting impatient.
He couldn’t wait to see mommy.
“Is it time yet?”
And finally, the time indeed had finally come. Oshie’s marine mama finally showed up and the boy immediately ran to give her the biggest and warmest hug.
What a beautiful thing to come home to, right?
I’m pretty sure all the stress in Nancy’s body was instantly released.
For a good few minutes, Oshie kept on jumping and running around. He surely couldn’t contain his excitement.
To prove this point, he even ended up peeing, something dogs do when they get too thrilled.
“Are you happy your momma’s home?”
The answer was pretty obvious.
“She walked away to check out so we could head home and he’s just looking for her now,” he continued.
Oshie looked really worried not having his mom in sight. Don’t worry, baby boy, she’s coming with you.
Then, Nancy finally showed up again and it was as if it was the first Oshie had seen her.
He ran around until he went back to the car as if saying, “let’s come home now, mom!”
The beautiful family then finally made their way home to make up for all the lost time. It was such a heartwarming reunion.
