Since the dawn of time, mail trucks have inspired dogs to bark at them with terrible tenacity. Ok…Maybe not the dawn of time, but certainly since the dawn of the mail truck. The simple white vehicle with the red and blue stripes (if you and your pooch live in The States) seem to appear more like a red flag to a bull.
Dogs don’t always get mad when they see a mail truck pull up however…
One golden retriever for instance, seems to have made a very special friendship.
Before you can even see who’s driving up to Winnie to dog’s front yard, he excitedly rushes down toward the street, his tail wagging frantically. But who is this dog’s friend that she’s so amped to see?
You guessed it:
Mr. Mail. This sweet older mailman pulls up to the property, doing his job. The big question is, does he know Winnie? Does this pup get just as excited for any mail truck that pulls up, or does he especially like Mr. Mail?
Well this retriever is so excited she can hardly contain herself.
So excited is she that she runs in circles to spend some of her pent-up enthusiasm. Before Mr. Mail even has a chance to put the mail in his hand into the mail box, she is rocketing around like a firework.
As Mr. Mail places the parcels in this property’s mailbox, Winnie patiently waits.
Well, I say patiently, but you can tell by the ferocious wagging of her tail that she’s very far from being relaxed. Heck, maybe she just loves witnessing deliveries. Something tells me that’s not the case though.
Once the mail is delivered, the man is free.
That is, free to head over to the pupper to give it the attention it so clearly craves. Before Mr. Mail can even get over to her, she playfully lies down in anticipation for the incoming mailman. He in turn, extends a friendly finger to this attention-ready dog.
But one friendly finger won’t do it for this particular pup.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that these two are pretty much best friends and that the affection the golden retriever has for this mailman is not one-sided. The two clearly have a beautiful connection.
What’s this?
It seems that this mailman has something still up his sleeve. Or…in his pocket anyway. Whatever he’s digging around for in there, Winnie seems very eager for it.
He’s delivering more than just mail.
Clearly, this mailman had more to deliver than just what was in his mailbag. It seems like he knew exactly what route he was on that day and planned an extra-special delivery for one especially friendly golden retriever.
Another successful delivery.
Winnie is so happy with her treat that she once again rockets around joyfully. After her and Mr. Mail “say goodbye”, she springs back toward the house to show off her treats to her mom, who while watching this whole interaction comments, “She loves her mailman”. Well, I would have to agree.
