Not everyone has picked a side of the fence when it comes to being a “dog person” or a “cat person.” After all, there are a lot of people who think they’re equally amazing pets to own!

While it’s pretty common for someone to bring both a kitty and a pooch into their household – the relationship between the two pets in the video below is quite heart-melting. Similar to kids, it’s easier to have pets that “get along.” One family captured the beautiful relationship between their fur babies, who seem to have become best-buds!

Golden Retrievers are known to be great family dogs that are sweet, playful, and trustworthy. According to the Crazy Pet Guy, it’s very possible to have a Golden and a cat form a close bond. However, it’s important to “give them time to know each other.” Other sites, including The Spruce Pets, actually list Golden Retrievers as one of the top breeds that can get along with cats.

You can feel all the love between the kitten and the dog simply by observing their behavior.

The Golden gives the feline tons of kisses and snuggles with it during sleep time. On the other hand, the kitten is loving with his friend too. Don’t they look really comfortable in the photo below?

One viewer commented on the video:

“If that isn’t adorable, I don’t know what is!”

The dog is gentle with his bestie, and doesn’t even flinch when it walks up and starts eating out of the same bowl of food.

If only kids could get along and share this nicely!

Even as the kitten gets older, their friendship remains strong.

The video is a mixture of footage from when the feline was a baby, and then it shows how the pets have the same relationship later on too. It shows them comfortably sleeping together, the cat resting on the Golden Retriever’s back, and lots more kisses.

One woman wrote:

“Having them as pets, I’d never be able to go to work. I would just sit there and watch them being cute together all day long”

The fact that the feline was a kitten when the animals were introduced may have helped in them developing their close bond.

According to the AKC, dogs and cats have “behavioral differences,” which can lead to issues. They provided the example of how a dog wagging its tail might indicate playfulness, but a cat “swishing” its tail can be a sign that it’s irritated. On the site, they explain:

“Dogs that misread these signals may end up receiving a swipe at their nose by a bothered cat, and felines may learn to distrust dogs after getting chased around the block one too many times.”

But the AKC points out that there are ways to help dogs and cats develop strong relationships. One of them has to do with starting young.

“Early socialization between kittens and puppies helps them overcome suspicions, and introducing young animals to tolerant, older animals encourages respectful habits.”
