When dogs and cats live together, one of two things can happen. Either they get along splendidly, or your home can be transformed into a 24/7 war-zone. This can depend on a few things, mostly the breeds of the pets, their training or their individual personalities. A crucial time in the establishing closer relationships between your pets, is the birth of a new addition.
This can be a make-or-break time.
One adorable video shows a kitten’s heart-melting first moments.
The new arrival is entering a house with two golden retrievers, and a Siberian husky. Luckily these docile and well behaved dogs are all too happy to receive a new friend. While they tentatively keep their distance, their curiosity is palpable. They stare unwaveringly at the newborn kitten in eager anticipation.
Being friendly is not unusual for golden retrievers.
As Dogtime.com puts it:
“These dogs are fairly easy to train and get along in just about any home or family. They’re great with kids and very protective of their humans.”
These qualities make golden retrievers a very easy breed to introduce a tiny kitten too. All they want to do is make friends and be good doggos. So when you need them to be careful and respectful of a vulnerable kitten, you can trust they’ll behave.
As the kitten plays, the spectators gather.
Watching carefully is not only a golden retriever and a husky, but Daddy cat as well. This ginger feline is the father to the tiny kitten, and along with his canine companions, watches on as his child gets used to the world around it. As you can see, all of this household’s pets get along, even the adult cats and dogs.
And Mommy cat takes very good care of her young.
As her tiny, “fresh-out-of-the-oven” kitten sleeps soundly under her front leg, so does she. If seeing a tiny kitten sleeping nuzzled into its mother doesn’t fill you to the brim with joy, then I don’t know what will. When the kitten yawns, it somehow levels even further up on the cuteness scale.
And still as they sleep on, the watchdogs….watch…
Could there be a more protected kitten in the world than this wee thing with not one, not two, but three whole guard dogs watching over you. Any intruders would have to reckon with a mighty force. An adorable…yet mighty force.
Siberian huskies too have unique personalities.
“They are affectionate with everyone but do not need to constantly pester you for attention. They are not known to be aggressive and generally do well in multi-dog homes. They do well with children and will welcome everyone into their home”- Dogtime.com
Apparently, that’s even true for cat children! This attentive and gentle husky curiously sniffs the little thing, no doubt sizing up their future friendship.
And many viewers have been tickled by these protective dogs.
