Watch out Amazon, this brand new doggy delivery service is cheaper, faster, and you can even scratch the driver behind the ear!

When the going gets “ruff,” we can either stick our head in the sand like an ostrich, or figure out a better way to deal with it by thinking on our feet.

Or in this case, on four gorgeously furry little paws!

Meet Sundance “Sunny” Eveleth, a totally lovable golden retriever from Colorado who is doing exactly what he’s been bred to do – retrieve stuff!

But instead of chasing after the usual balls and sticks, this happy pooch is fetching bags of oh-so-tasty food.

This fun new game of his all started when his owner, Karen Eveleth, conspired with her neighbor, Renee Hellman, to turn the pooch into the cutest delivery dude on the block.

Karen has been neighbors with Renee with over a decade, and they’ve been pretty friendly all that time.

After Renee self-isolated herself for health reasons, the two came up with a cool way for her to get her weekly groceries without having to leave the house.

While a golden retriever delivering groceries for his quarantined neighbor might have seemed a bit weird last year, it’s actually a service we could all use right about now.

Mostly because we’re all dying to actually hug something warm and cuddly!

Karen, who lives in Manitou Springs, Colorado, explained to KKTV how this super simple process works:

“She got the list, she gave it to Sunny, Sunny brought it to me. I went to the store, got her groceries, and he delivered them all to her.”

It’s like passing love notes in grade school. But instead of your friend being the middleman, it’s your dog, and he’s got a loaf of bread or take-out Chinese in his mouth.

There have been rumors for years that Amazon has secretly been testing out drones as a new way to deliver packages to our homes.

We all know that necessity is the mother of invention, but perhaps they forgot that low tech solutions are sometimes the better alternative.

Yay for robots, but they’re just not the same as the UPS, FedEx, or USPS driver that we all have a love/hate relationship with.

If this coronavirus has taught us one thing, it’s that we all crave connection with real, live beings. Not drones. Not Skype or Facetime. But people!

And dogs, too. Especially good doggies like Sunny boy.

Sunny has made multiple treks between his house and Renee’s ever since the outbreak started. She has COPD and other health issues that make her a target for the virus, and is dependent on oxygen to help her breathe.

She couldn’t be more grateful for all the things Sunny has done for her.

“What a wonderful thing, just a sweet thing. So he started doing the schlepping, back and forth. It’s been fun, it’s been a real treat.”

Having a cute dog stop by for food drops and cuddly kisses has made her days spent in self-isolation more bearable.

“Little things like Sunny coming over to visit is nice, and it makes you feel good. It’s a way of communicating.”

His owner, Karen says that she hopes this story will make people smile, and maybe even make their day a little bit more Sunny:

“Anybody can do something small, that can be so helpful.”

Sunny is true to both his name and his breed – he’s a breath of fresh golden light who will fetch your heart, and your dinner, if you let him.
