Nobody likes pain— but luckily, in these circumstances, the result is well worth the effort. Copper is darling brown goat from West Virginia— and Pretty Boy is her volunteer midwife and birthing coach!

This adorable duo made waves when USA Today shared their story on Facebook. Copper was pregnant and expecting babies. Somehow, Pretty Boy seemed to sense this and gave himself the important responsibility of helping her through the birth.

Copper’s babies weren’t ready to come out just yet. But Pretty Boy was not in any rush. In the weeks leading up to Mama Goat’s labor, the fluffy care-giving kitty refused to leave her side, patiently waiting for the magical new arrivals.

Eventually, the time came for Copper to have her babies. And as the brown Mama goat started to have contractions, Pretty Boy knew it was finally his time to shine. When Copper went into labor, Pretty Boy immediately started massaging and comforting her through the ripples of pain.

As Copper’s contractions grew steadily closer, Pretty Boy massaged her sides with his gentle paws. Although he’s not a doctor, he definitely has the loving, comforting touch of a natural midwife.

Like most labors, it took some time for Copper to finally start having her babies. She patiently dealt with the spasms of pain, grateful to have her caring friend by her trembling sides. Soon enough, tiny heads started emerging, and before you could say “midwifery”, Copper had given birth to three healthy baby goats.
