Let’s face it…most animals don’t like taking baths. Dogs will roll around in a muddy stream for hours. But when the time comes for them to get all that dirt off, they’re suddenly less keen to be in the water.

When your pup is afraid to get into the bathtub, you might want to prepare for a struggle to get them clean. But if you don’t want your pup to smell, it’s an essential task. The only bright side to the situation? Sometimes, owners capture adorable videos of their dogs getting bathed.

Phil the Malamute was caught on camera

Luckily, the owners of Phil the Malamute took a video of him getting a bath. As you can see, he’s not too keen on the idea. While viewers might feel bad for him, most people can’t deny how cute he is in the video, trying his best to avoid bath time.

Trying to hide

At the beginning of the video, Phil tries his best to hide…albeit not very effectively. You see him standing in the corner of the bathroom with his face turned toward the wall. He’s not making eye contact with his owners. Maybe if he can’t see them, they don’t see him. Nice try.

Impossible to convince

Phil is a super big dog. So, it’d be difficult to force him into the tub. That’s why his dad tries to coax him in instead. He uses peanut butter. Phil takes a few licks of it but doesn’t budge. His dad even tries to put some of the peanut butter in the bathtub.

The whole family is there

Not only are Phil’s owners there to witness the event, but so is the rest of the family. Their young baby and a cat are also in the room during the process. While it might create more chaos, no one wants to miss out on the “fun.”

Phil finally gets into the tub

Eventually, Phil’s owners manage to get him in the bathtub. But he’s not happy about it one bit. Not only does he make some crying noises but his body language speaks volumes as to how he feels. Finally, his dad starts washing him.

Such a good boy

While Phil isn’t happy, he remains relatively calm during the process. But he does let out a few cries from time to time to make sure his parents know he’s not liking it. They just keep telling him what a good boy he is.

Phil was really dirty

According to his owners, Phil hadn’t had a bath in two months. When you consider how much fur Malamutes have, that’s a long time to go without being bathed. At the end of his bath, the dark brown water is an indicator of how filthy this boy was.

He looks so different wet

At the beginning of the video, you see Phil looking big and fluffy. But once he gets into the bathwater, his true size is revealed. Most of his large body is fur. Okay, so he doesn’t like taking a bath but he sure does look sweet.

It’s over

To Phil’s relief, his bath comes to an end. His dad holds a towel for him as he gets out of the water. But just like a lot of dogs, Phil prefers to shake it off. Luckily, the towel catches some of the spray.

He takes off

After the ordeal is over, Phil wanders off down the hall. His owners chase after him, trying to get him to come back so they can dry him off. After all, they don’t want him to get the entire house wet. We’re sure in this dog’s mind, that would be sweet revenge. But don’t worry, they manage to dry him off before that happened.
