They even pray together. <3

There’s a reason German Shepherds are often used as service dogs – they’re highly intelligent and many can be trained to both work and protect.

It just so happens that they make excellent family pets too, when trained correctly. They do well around children and can be both loyal and calm.

Baron the GSD

Take Baron, a German Shepherd who has taken over bedtime duties for four-year-old human brother Alexander.

He’s the cutest, furriest babysitter we’ve ever seen!

Nearly 7 million people have watched Inside Edition’s profile on the special dog since it was uploaded. At the time, they said:

“Baron, the German Shepherd adorably has the sweetest bedtime ritual with his little brother, Alexander. Everything the duo put away their toys, say their prayers and then gets tucked in by his best friend. After story time and some kisses goodnight…”

You read that right – Baron is in charge of getting the boy ready for bed and gives him a kiss and even shuts off the light as a parent would!

Bonus: Alexander can’t really argue with Baron about bedtime! It’s genius!

Help around the house

If you thought putting a 4-year-old to bed was impressive, you should know that Baron also helps Alexander clean up his toys.

The two have always been best friends. And while normally having a dog and a child would make for extra work, it seems like this pup is picking up some slack.

The list of Baron’s special traits seems endless. In fact, he helps with non-childcare duties as well.

He can even load the dishwasher!

Someone has taught Baron to accomplish and possibly enjoy all of the things we find tiring about our days. Imagine what you could get done if you had such a helpful dog!

Baron knows no bounds

As if his list of skills isn’t impressive enough, Baron also knows how to make coffee.

Two sugars and some dog slobber, please!

Even more impressive is the fact that Baron was just 10-months-old when he first learned to do all of this. And his list of chores also included vacuuming and dusting.

You probably won’t be surprised to know that Baron has his own Facebook page and Instagram account as well. The most recent update was in October, but you can scroll through to see Baron’s puppies with his partner Audi!

Credit where credit is due

Baron isn’t just awesome because he’s a German Shepherd but because he had a very elaborate training regimen. His owner posted to Facebook to warn people that simply getting a GSD wouldn’t get them a dog like him.

“I’m going to just put this out there for all to read. I see more and more comments such as ” wow cool dog, I want a German Shepherd now so it’ll do this that and the other” πŸ“ look, German Shepherds don’t come to you “like Baron” – they come as just a dog that’ll need proper direction, handling and guidance on your end. I’ve put countless… COUNTLESS hours into Baron to make him what he is today. German Shepherds strive to learn, they’re stubborn, hard headed, eager to please..which makes training a breeze for some, a nightmare for others. They are not the easiest breed, and definitely not a breed for just anyone! I love that so many admire Baron and I think he’s an exceptional ambassador for the breed.. But please realize, they don’t just come this way.. It takes blood sweat and tears to make one badass dog!!”
