When you have been away from home for a long period of time there is a lot you miss about home. Yet, there is nothing you will miss more than your pet. Their adorable cuddles, playtime, and unconditional love. You always wonder if they are missing you the same. Have they forgotten about you? Will they be mad you were away for so long?
Rambo’s mom had her answers the moment her German Shepherd saw her face. He missed her just as much.
Rambo the German Shepherd was only seven and a half months old when his mom had to leave him for eighteen days.
Eighteen days must have felt like forever for both Rambo and his mom. Their reunion could not come a moment too soon. Rambo was ready to give his mother a great, big welcome home. He was perched at the gate anxiously waiting. While Rambo’s mom knew she could not come home empty handed. She had many treats in her hand. Maybe, she hoped that if Rambo was mad at her for being away she could have bought his love with treats.
The moment Rambo saw and heard his mother, he could not stay quiet.
Rambo was crying for his mom, but she was excitedly running towards him. So, the feeling was mutual. Rambo even tried to jump the gate to get to his mom sooner, but she came running to him too. Once she was inside it was complete and adorable madness. Rambo was jumping all over his mom in excitement. He did not forget about her at all.
Rambo was up to his old tricks and games with his mom in no time. He was running between her legs for treats. He was jumping all over her for all the love and affection he had been missing. Rambo’s mom had missed him just the same, so she did not mind at all as she kept giving him treats, pets, and cuddles.
Rambo and his mom even fell to the ground at one point in their shared excitement.
His mom starts to run around to help get his energy out but Rambo is too excited to concentrate. His mom returning home has his brain on complete overload. He starts to run with her but notices a ball and quickly picks it up to play ball with his mom again. Yet, when he brings the ball over to her he forgets about in the excitement to see her.
According to her YouTube channel, that is fully dedicated to her pooch, Rambo and his mother do everything together. They create fitness videos together, enjoy park days, eat together, and even dance together. They are the best of friends.
These two besties will never want to be separated for that long again.
Rambo is not unique in missing his mother while she was away.
The German Shepherder states, “German Shepherds have an associative, or long term memory that allows them to easily recall significant parts of their life, especially extremely positive or extremely negative events. Since a German Shepherd’s owner is a significant part of its life, it is unlikely that the dog will ever forget them.”
Rambo was only seven and a half months old but German Shepherds start creating long term memory as early as three to twelve weeks old.
