It’s not uncommon for animals to make friends with different species, just ask this German Shepherd and his new bestie – who happens to be a chick.
When this pooch meets this adorable baby chick for the first time you can see the happiness written all over his face.

Rocky is the friendly German Shepherd puppy who’s made quite the name for himself on YouTube for his endearing encounters with other animals. He even has a bunny friend as well!
Rocky just loves other animals, and he proves it with videos like this one. At the beginning of the video, you can see him sitting on the bed with a look of excitement mixed with anticipation for what his owner is holding in his hand.
It’s a baby chick!
At first, Rocky seems apprehensive about touching the delicate little chick, but he warms up quickly and begins gently sniffing it. The puppy follows it around the bed, taking in this new scent he’s smelling before he loses him between his legs.
According to American Kennel Club, German Shepherds explore everything with their noses, so this makes perfect sense.
You can tell Rocky is worried about stepping on the tiny fella, so once the baby chick gets out from underneath him he does something adorable.

The young pooch has his tongue sticking out and a huge grin on his face, as he just stares at his new unlikely friend. No words are needed, you can tell that these two are doing some serious bonding.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any cuter, Rocky’s owner holds the chick up close to his nose and he does something that pulled on heartstrings all across the internet.

Rocky is being as gentle as possible, but he can help but play with the chick by giving it a little nibble and pressing his nose against it. To have this mellow temperament as a puppy really says something about the kind of dog that the loving German Shepherd is.
Every time the chick gets out of Rocky’s line of sight, he readjusts so that he can keep an eye on the baby. Throughout the entire video, the gorgeous puppy is on his best behavior and is as gentle as a mouse with the baby chick. It’s no surprise Rocky was so caring when it came to baby chick, he’s like that with all the different animals he meets.

Rocky’s YouTube channel is full of hilarious videos, and precious encounters that the sweet puppy has had with other baby animals. In another video, the nurturing puppy meets a young kitten and is equally as sweet and gentle to it.
