He finally got his opportunity.

Man’s best friend could be given another name. Baby’s best bud. No other pet has as much love for little humans as they do. One quick search on the internet and you’ll see thousands of articles and videos on the subject. They are constant companions, guardians, playmates, and probably confidants with an understanding all their own.

Larry is a white German Shepherd. He is nine months older than this pretty toddler named Quinn. You can bet he’s always with Quinn!

In fact, this GSD likes to lick little Quinn’s hands. He has no problems with the baby girl climbing all over him either. Obviously, Quinn holds this dog’s heart and Larry is letting her keep it.

Mom and dad won’t let him lick Quinn’s face though.

See, Larry’s been trying to do so. You know, doggy kisses. He’s a smart boy though so he stopped trying. And you can see him being lazy just laying down on the carpet as Quinn tries to play with her best bud. She’s so pretty in her dress and a matching headband!

Quinn zeroes in on Larry’s nose.

That has got to be the cutest toddler kiss on a dog. Larry doesn’t react though so Quinn tries again. And again, and again. Finally, the laid back Larry raises his head. He gets up, stretches, faces Quinn and…

Doggy kisses!

Quinn, so adorable, lets out a toddler giggle with a huge smile on her face. She leans in and Larry knew what to do. He licks her on the cheek getting the same happy response from the baby. She really loves Larry!

“OMG this is the sweetest thing I have ever seen on the internet. Parents have obviously done a good job teaching BOTH the dog and the baby about being gentle.”

Says one viewer.

The reason Larry is so close to Quinn is because of that “pack mentality” canines have. The family they belong to is their “pack” and in that pack are assigned roles for each member. And since both dogs and babies have this shared instinct to play around, it’s only natural that they forge a bond.

There’s so much positivity happening for both dog and baby. Dogs can pick up on subtle cues and hints to understand emotions too. They can really sense that a baby is vulnerable and young. Much like the pups in a pack. This is why they form a close relationship with them for protective reasons.

A dog sniffing or licking a baby may cause alarm for parents (understandable) but it’s just their way of checking the baby’s health. It’s what a mother actually does to her pups. It’s a good thing!

He is so much bigger than this little human but Larry is so gentle and sweet with her. One look at the bond these two share and it’s apparent that Larry would, without hesitation, fight for Quinn. And Quinn will shower this white GSD with all her affection.

And seeing as this was just posted last year, Larry and Quinn have many years of friendship ahead of them. They will be best friends for life, sharing as many kisses as possible. And that’s just fine.
