Dinner time can often be a little messy when you have pets. For some reason, despite the fact that they were likely only fed a few hours ago, animals can be super dramatic around feeding time, and may even (like our cat) act as if they haven’t been fed in years. Because of this, sometimes in the stress of the moment biscuits can be accidentally spilled – and we all know that cleaning these up is impossible when your pet is in the room.
So when one man from California accidentally spilled his dog’s biscuits all over the floor, he thought it would be best to shut his German Shepherd outside while he swept them up.
But what he didn’t expect was for the smart dog to offer a helping hand – or tongue, should we say. The funny pup stuck his tongue under the gap in the door and tried his absolute best to help gather up the spilled biscuits, and we’re so glad that the man managed to capture the whole thing on camera!
Zeus the German Shepherd loves dinner time. In fact, he loves it so much, that he’ll happily stick his tongue under door cracks to munch up anything he can. When Zeus’ owner, a retired navy chef who goes by the name of @ChiefNitro on Twitter, had an accidental dog biscuit spillage, Zeus was right on hand to help. The funny dog figured out that he could stick his tongue through the crack under the door to pull biscuits into his mouth, and the result ended up looking absolutely hilarious!
The dog’s owner shared the comical video onto his Twitter account, with the caption:
“Zeus spilled his treats so I put him in the other room so I could clean up and look at this mofo.”
The post instantly went viral with 2.9 million views and thousands of likes and comments!
One person commented,
“OMG how cute!! Just let him eat them!!!”
To which Zeus’ owner replied:
“Thatโs way too many….after I turned the video off I picked them all up.”
We’d bet Zeus feels lucky enough to be able to snaffle the ones that he did!
Another person said:
“Oh my Lord. That’s one smart and persistent pup, lol!”
Someone else added:
“Zeus is all of us when thereโs an abundance of snacks around. No door can hold us.”
One person simply posted a picture of the Hungry Hippos game, which we think is a great representation of Zeus’ biscuit grabbing.
If you’re interested in seeing the dog behind the tongue, then it turns out that Zeus actually has his own Instagram account, called kingzeusofcali. Many people guessed that Zeus is a labrador, but in actual fact, he’s a German Shepherd, and he’s super cute!
We think that he was a great help in tidying the biscuits off the floor, and somehow we doubt that this will be the last time he used this clever little trick. Watch the hilarious video below.
