In the animal kingdom, it doesn’t matter if you aren’t of the same species. If a baby animal needs to be taken care of, a compassionate adult will usually step in to help.
That is the case of this adorable baby duckling and German Shepherd in the video below.
Just the size difference alone would seem daunting, but in an interesting twist, the pair don’t seem to mind.
As a video opens showing the happy, loving face of a German Shepherd, you can see hear little peeps below.
Soon the camera lowers and we can see the most adorable, tiny little duckling.
As he chirps and waddles, the German Shepherd sniffs the little duckling, probably wondering what it is doing in the bathtub in the first place.
But then there is a tender moment between them. The German Shepherd licks the nose of the baby duckling, a caring action by dogs because wet snouts mean healthy snouts.
The duckling isn’t caught off guard. Instead, it comes right back by gently pecking the German Shepherd with loving kisses.
In that moment, you can see that the German Shepherd has decided to adopt the little peeping duckling as her own.

German Shepherds aren’t the only foster parents out there. These hens also shared in the compassionate spirit and brought species of all kinds into their nests.
It just goes to show that a good parent is a loving parent.
