The dynamic between dogs and service workers is a fascinating one, filled with humor and complexity.

The most iconic of these relationships is perhaps the one between dogs and mailmen.

It’s a classic comedy duo.

The mailman, simply trying to do his job, and the dog, always eager for a chase.

The root of this amusing relationship lies in the canine mindset.

Dogs are inherently “pack-minded” and many are protective of their pack.

This behavior traces back to their wild ancestors, the wolves, who would guard their territory and resources.

Even today, if a dog perceives a stranger encroaching on their “territory,” they will attempt to ward them off.

Mailmen, in the eyes of dogs, are frequent violators of boundaries, entering the “protected realm” under a dog’s watch.

Often, a dog’s response is to bark in an attempt to scare them away. Hence, the classic dog-mailman relationship is born.

However, if they don’t perceive you as a threat, most dogs will shower you with affection.

Golden Retrievers are especially known for their outpouring of love.

Dogs are generally conditioned to be comfortable around humans, so, most of them don’t have issues with strangers.

However, there are exceptions.

Joshua Byrne noticed that his dog, Shelby, was behaving unusually whenever the garbage truck came around.

As responsible pet owners, it’s our duty to observe and understand behaviors that deviate from our pets’ norms.

Joshua noticed that Shelby’s strange behavior coincided with the weekly garbage truck visits.

Intrigued by this recurring event, Joshua decided to investigate.

Dogs have a heightened sensitivity to sounds compared to humans.

Given that large trucks often have squeaky brakes, Joshua initially thought this might be the cause of Shelby’s behavior.

The squeal of brakes can be annoying and even harmful to dogs. However, when Joshua ruled out the brakes as the cause, he began to suspect the machinery.

Garbage trucks are notoriously loud, with machinery that compresses trash and generates a lot of noise.

Trucks equipped with robotic arms are even louder!

Determined to solve the mystery, Joshua decided to set up a camera.

He noticed that Shelby’s chain could reach all the way to the garbage cans, providing him with additional clues.

It became apparent that the issue was related to the garbage man rather than the truck, as Shelby’s chain couldn’t reach the truck.

As Joshua watched and waited, the truck finally arrived with Shelby waiting outside.

As the garbage man stepped out, Shelby bolted towards him at full speed!
