When exploring the woods, best expect you to encounter wildlife.

There would always be people that would go for a hike or ride no matter the season.

While it’d be safer to go out in the colder months since most animals would hibernate, it doesn’t mean harm would never happen.

One of the common wildlife living in our country’s forests is bears.

You would find them along your usual trail deep in the woods hunting for food.

When food is scarce, there’s a possibility that they would go down in low-elevation areas.

Bear activity and warnings are high during those times, and people should always be alert when going deeper into the woods and even in their backyards.

As much as we want a pleasant or harmless encounter with bears, no one could ever prepare us for an attack.

Most people would say to carry a bear spray or bear horn with you when you think there’s a possibility of an encounter, but when pushed into that situation, our quick thinking is our best weapon.

Enduro dirt bikers ran into a bear den while going for a ride in the woods.

The video on BusyWild’s Facebook page was short, but it showed us what someone’s quick thinking could do to save someone’s life.

One of the bikers crashed into a bear den, and the situation looked ugly instantly.

The bear charged at the fallen biker as he scrambled out and away from his bike.

It looked angry and was ready to harm him – maybe their cubs were nearby and thought the dirt bike would injure the little ones.

The second biker’s quick thinking saved the day, though.

He twisted the right-hand throttle the revved up his engine, and its loud, harsh noise surprised the bear.

It was a few seconds away from attacking the first biker, but it backed up a few steps when it heard the noise.

The second biker revved up more, and it went further back and ran away.

The second biker’s action camera attached to his helmet captured the video.

That video went viral because of how he acted in an instant at a moment when most of us would probably stay too stunned to do something.

It wouldn’t be such a pleasant sight if it ended the other way.

People in the comment section were thankful for the second biker in the video.

Bryan Harrington commented on BusyWild’s video:

“That happened way too quickly. No gun, bear spray, or horn would have helped. That’s why you never ride alone.”

The video was also posted on ViralHog’s YouTube channel, and people could say the same about the second biker.

They applauded him for his quick action, and we all agree that it saved his buddy’s life.

So, what should we do when encountering a brown bear in the woods?

Experts would say staying calm and playing dead would be the best course.

They are just there hunting for food and looking after their young.

But if it gets rowdy like this?

It’s best to have a bear spray with you and, as Bryan Harrington said, never go alone.
