French Bulldogs have that look most animators and artists love. The large, square head, bat ears and really short nose make for a distinct look that is oddly beautiful and endearing. This breed is affectionate and bright, making them great family dogs. They are alert considering the short legs and rounded frame. They don’t require a lot of exercise making them perfect for those who prefer staying indoors.
This is Sophie. She is a lovely family dog given a new role. Her job description has been updated with teach a baby how to crawl.
This white French has taken on her new role with gusto. Her student is Isabel and this beaming baby girl looks like she can’t wait to start her lessons. Look at her smiling in her green onesie!
Mom has her camera ready, even providing commentary.
As is with the start of any new skill, there are challenges to overcome. Like professionalism.
“Sophie! Crawlies! Come on, Sophie!”
The instructions were very clear but what does this bulldog do? Sophie begins to lick Isabel’s hands then moves to the baby’s face for some kisses. What a cute mentor this baby has!
“Not in the face, please.”
After a couple of warnings, Sophie finally begins crawling. Mom is very encouraging, motivating the bulldog and heaping praises on her. What a great CEO! Wonder how much the pay is…
Isabel watches Sophie in wonder with a face that is both incredulous and nervous at the same time. But she is one determined baby! She props herself up on her arms, jittery with excitement as she tries to move on the mat. What’s wrong?
The baby isn’t moving forward. She goes a bit sideways, grunting while exerting energy as she tries to imitate her best friend.
Mom turns around, asking Sophie to demonstrate the “crawlies” once more. The dog drops to her belly but… goes back to kissing Isabel. How could she not? Isabel is too cute! Who needs professionalism when there’s love to go around?
What a sweet morning!
Even their viewers agree.
“Doggie kisses look revolting but they’re not dangerous. I bet now they’re older they’re great friends! the frenchie makes such nice kid’s dog.”
French Bulldogs are assumed to be descended from the English Bulldog. They were originally called the Boule-Dog Francais and were popular among the fancy socialites who displayed themselves in the Parisian streets at night. They are highly intelligent, able to learn and pick up instructions easily so long as it seems like a game.
Just like Sophie!
These dogs love human contact and with that relaxed attitude of theirs make them excellent companions and watch dogs. They can be stubborn like most dogs, getting in to mischief, which gives their owners reasons to laugh. They are perfectly happy just sitting at your feet or following you around the house, making sure to love you will all their might.
For Isabel and Sophie, it’s a lifetime of friendship and laughs. Mom can pat herself on the back for a job well done.
