There’s nothing quite like having the love of a mother. The feeling of being loved unconditionally gives you the reassurance that you have a protector and a guardian always by your side.
Everything is rainbows and butterflies until that love gets threatened. And when that happens, we can adhere to the old adage,” never get between a lion and her cub” for some wisdom.
A video clip shows a Foal in distress as a group of people try to carefully enjoy its company. It’s a regular day at the barn when a couple and her kids decided to pay a visit to the Sandy Bottom Stables. There, they are greeted by a very timid Foal that doesn’t know quite what to do.
In the beginning, we can see the camera person Walk their way to the entrance of the barn where they are met with two women and a little girl. The ladies are gathered at a safe distance from the Foal in order to share a moment with the majestic animal.
The beautiful young horse pranced slowly around the group as if to show that he was growing nervous. it was a long before things started to get a little more interesting. Next thing you know, the horsey let out a soft cry as if to signal some form of distress. The group cautiously took a few steps back from the startled Foal in case of any dangers.
Suddenly, in the distance, you can hear a loud noise coming from nearby.
It turns out to be the mom of the Foal who heard her baby’s call in need. What an adorable sight to see a proud mother caring so deeply for her young! The momma horse makes her way back to the stables in order to meet with her baby.
“Here comes mom. Here she comes babe watchout” said the cameraman to his wife. You definitely want to watch yourself whenever momma comes around. Her survival instincts are kicked up a notch and would be willing to do anything to assure her baby horse is in a safe environment.
“He’s fine, He’s fine” the cameraman says out loud to reassure the mom of the situation. It seems the reasons for the Foal being startled are unknown, but it was nice to see that he had someone come into the rescue.
And who could blame her?
After all, a study suggests that there are health problems found in Foals during the first year of life that can be life-threatening. Such Illnesses involve respiratory tract infections, Moscow skeletal problems such as angular limb deformity, contracted tendons, joint or tendon laxity, and epiphysitis.
The study also showed that foals which suffered health problems during the first 14 days of life were five times more likely to receive an unfavorable physical assessment at one year of age. In addition, foals suffering from health problems between 15 days and one year of age were 7 times more likely to have a negative physical assessment when compared with those who did not suffer from health problems.
In a nutshell, it’s important to keep an eye out for foals during their early development. The mom felt that it was the right thing to do in order to make sure her baby was protected in case harm ever did become an issue.
In the final moments of the video, the foal and his mom pair up and slowly trot away from the crowd in order to get their own alone time. I’m sure the group of ladies were very fond of the beautiful horse and appreciated the small time they got to spend with it.
It goes to show that you can never be too careful. In moments of ensuing danger or just even just casual moments, make sure to never underestimate the prowess of a protective mother.
