When summertime hits and we’re feeling hotter than a vindaloo, sometimes we forget to spare a thought for our fur babies who must be struggling twice as much as us with their thick warm coats.

But we’ve got the answer to your pooch’s problems! Next time you’re kicking back with a Popsicle or a nice cold gin, your dog can be enjoying their very own treat, thanks to these five recipes for frozen treats, specially designed for dogs. Our dog, spoiled? Not at all!

1) Frozen Doggy Bones

The best thing about these bone-shaped treats (apart from the fact that they’re completely safe for doggy tummies) is that they’re totally customizable, meaning that you can play around with flavors until you find a combination that your dog likes best!

The example flavors range from Blueberry and Yogurt, to Frosty Peanut Butter and Frozen Strawberry, and we can’t help but drool over how amazing these look. The recipe calls for different fruits such as strawberries and blueberries, but you have the freedom to add in whatever fruit takes your dog’s fancy (providing it’s safe for them to eat!)

What’s even better is that this recipe only requires you to have a blender, a silicone mold and a freezer, so you don’t have to have the cooking skills of Gordon Ramsay to whip this one up. Find the full recipe here.

2) Frozen Yogurt Pup-sicle

This tasty treat once again only requires the most basic ingredients, and it’s packed with fruit to keep your pup super healthy. We especially love the genius idea of using a pretzel stick as the pupsicle stick — meaning that there’s no worry of your greedy pooch accidentally chomping down an inedible stick.

When all you have to do is mix the ingredients together and pour into molds, there really is no excuse for giving your pooch his own delicious summer treat. Find the full recipe here.

3) Frozen Apple Dog Treat

Since when have dog treats looked so darn tasty? This treat is packed with fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin C and will cool your pooch down on even the hottest summer’s day. The recipe requires just three ingredients (and one is water — so we’re not sure if this even counts, to be honest) and the method couldn’t be more simple.

The apples should be sliced and blended with yogurt and water before being frozen for a few hours in an ice tray until solid. The result is a healthy, tasty snack that your dog won’t be able to resist.

4) Peanut Butter And Jam Freezies

Is anyone else reminded of their childhood when thinking about this peanut butter and jam combination? These frozen delights consist of three ingredients: peanut butter, strawberries, and water, and it simply involves (you guessed it) blending all of the ingredients together.

The peanut butter provides your pooch with some much-needed protein while the strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese. This looks like a treat that we may end up sharing with our pooch.

5) Frosty Paws Dog Smoothie Bites

Making this tasty treat is as easy as making a smoothie — simply throw bananas, yogurt, peanut butter, and honey in a blender, then freeze in a cupcake tray or mold until solid. These homemade dog treats are so much better than store-bought as you know exactly what’s gone into them!

What’s even better is that these treats will last all summer — though not if your dog has a say in the matter. Just pop them in your freezer and grab one whenever your dog is looking a little hot and bothered.
