Fishermen can catch a lot of odd things in their nets besides ocean life.
But the crew at Still Flyin Charters which operates out of Perdido Pass in Orange Beach, Alabama have never seen a live cat in their net.
We always hear how much cats hate water and this cat was really in the thick of it.

That is until last week when they were out in the Gulf of Mexico and found a helpless kitty cat floating in the middle of the open ocean.
It is unknown exactly how the cat ended up in the middle of the ocean.
But the crew assumed that the cat had been sucked into the ocean from the tide after coming to close to it.

The kitten was struggling to stay above water when the found it.
The poor kitty was meowing desperately when the crew immediately scooped him right out of the water.
They posted a picture of their “catch of the day” on Facebook.

“Our catch of the day. Poor little guy was sucked out by the tide. We caught him just outside the pass in the gulf. He was struggling to stay up,” the crew wrote on Facebook.

Once the cat was safely onboard the crew dried the kitty of and comforted him so it would calm down and not be so scared.
Thankfully, the cat was OK. And is adjusting to life indoors.
“He’s wild but he’s hanging around the house because he’s terrified inside,” the company said on Facebook.

The cat even has a forever home now thanks to Still Flyin Charters’ deckhand.
“We caught him, brought him in the boat, and let him recover. Our deckhand found a home for him. Can’t say you see that every day,” the Facebook post concluded.

“So strange he was so close to the water. Wonder if someone threw him in? That you for saving him.”
“Absolutely amazing, I sure do hope that no one threw him in the water and I pray there wasn’t anymore. You’re a hero for the rescue,” another said.
But the charter company was doubtful that such a nefarious act had taken place.
“No one uses kittens for shark bait. I used to commercial shark fish for a living. Never heard of anyone doing that,” they commented on Facebook.

“I’ve seen some pretty crazy stuff out there, but never had seen a living animal get thrown off the bridge,” Smith told nfwdailynews.com.
Smith said he thought it was an otter but then he spied two orange eyes and ran to get his net to scoop the little creature out of the water.
