We are still in lockdown! As many people slowly forget what outside is like and deplete Netflix of good shows, others are finding creative solutions to problems presented by the coronavirus. For dogs, the world has seemed a bit different since the virus started spreading.
For many dogs, the coronavirus just means more snuggle time.
Many people are working from home or, unfortunately, out of work right now. If there is one group that is isn’t upset from all the recent world happenings, it’s the dogs. All they know is that their owners are spending WAY more time at home, and the pooches are loving it!
For essential workers, the story is a bit different.
For most “non-essential” workers, they are able to work from home. The issue comes, though, for the essential workers. No dog wants to spend the entire day by themselves, without their owners. The solution for many people is doggy daycare.
Pet daycare is a solution that many people use when working long hours.
As simple as it sounds, daycare for animals is just that; a way to keep your pets occupied while you are at work or out of town. People all across the world use daycare to make sure their furry friends have mental stimulation throughout the entire day!
Due to the coronavirus, most daycares are closed.
Many essential workers are running into issues because dog centers are closed to help stop the spread. For some, keeping your animal at home for 8+ hours is not an option they want to consider.
This FedEx driver decided to take matters into his own hands!
WIth daycare out of the question, this FedEx driver decided to take his dogs into work with him! Chorizo and Cocoa became delivery dogs for a day, traveling the whole route with their owner.
Daniel Nava is the FedEx driver who had some extra help from his canine companions.
Daniel didn’t like the idea of his two friends staying home all day while he delivered so he checked in with his supervisor to see if he could implement a solution.
“The decision to bring them with me on deliveries was not easy but my supervisor is very understanding.”
Thankfully, his supervisor understood the predicament.
These dogs weren’t just along for the ride, they walked the whole route with him! Getting their own FedEx vests, the dogs would walk up to the door with Daniel and then run back to the truck with him. That is some good exercise!
“I ended up making their outfits out of some old work shirts, and I got them some doggy sunglasses on Amazon,” Nava said.
People love seeing the dogs each day as packages get delivered.
The different places that Daniel delivers to love to see the delivery dogs!
“They seem to enjoy their time on the route — sometimes we stop by at the local neighborhood parks and I let them run around for a little bit,” Nava said. “We also deliver to the Del Mar Highlands Town Center [a local shopping center] … and the workers there love seeing them.”
For the time being, the dogs are gonna keep delivering with their dad.
