Anyone who has pets is no stranger to having them try to escape and run outdoors at the worst moments. Don’t they understand that they’re in here for their own safety? Here we are, providing them with all the shelter, food and water they could ask for and they still jump at the chance to escape outside when they see it.

Joking aside, the pent-up feelings that pets feel when inside homes is totally normal – after all, that’s why we’re recommended to walk them regularly.

This Golden Retriever in Colorado was no different. Lisa Menzies is this dog’s mom, and she came very close to having him get lost.

One day, Lisa was remotely overseeing some repairs to her house with a contractor. When lunch time came, the contractor left for a while and shut the door, only to have the door swing open again thanks to a strong gust of wind.

Catcher, her Golden Retriever, caught sight of the open door and did what any curious doggo would do. She made a beeline for the outside. On the footage from the doorbell cam, Catcher can be seen briskly walking towards the outside of the gate, like it’s no one’s business.

Keep in mind, Lisa and her husband weren’t home when this happened. There was no one to go out and chase the wandering dog right after he left, so any number of things could have gone wrong.

Lisa herself shuddered at the thought of what could have befallen Catcher at this time. Their house is right in front of a busy street, and we all know that animals and busy streets don’t really mix well.

Though Lisa had little to worry about, since the most unlikely thing happened. Would you call this a miracle, or something close to it?

I’m not sure myself, but I’d be grateful nonetheless.

In what can only be described as perfect luck and impeccable timing, Lisa got a welcome text from her FedEx driver that he’d stumbled upon Catcher during his drive. The address on the dog’s collar tag was a real life-saver here.

“I found your dog, and the address on her tag is where I’m going to take her”. – Lisa quotes the driver in an interview

And with the same care that goes into handling FedEx packages, this driver took Catcher to Lisa’s residence in Castle Pines, Colorado.

He handled the dog with care and gentleness, and brought Catcher home to safety.

“Seeing him carry her into the house like that… In my head, I was thinking of the theme song from the Titanic,” – Lisa said upon being interviewed by KFOR

Nothing but hats off and loud praise for this FedEx driver. This man stopped in the middle of his busy work shift to return someone’s lost dog, and with all the care and safety he could possibly do it with.

Of course, Lisa wants to let him know how grateful she was. If only she knew his name.

Though the whole scene was captured on her doorbell cam, there was zero way to ID the driver for a personal “thank you.”

She even gave Twitter a shot, giving FedEx themselves a “Thank you”, even if she couldn’t find the exact driver who took such good care of Catcher. Hopefully, she found that driver by now and let him know how happy she was that Catcher was safe.
