A woman receives a rather special guest every morning and it’s neither the newspaperman nor the postman.

Because unlike those we mentioned above, this regular visitor runs on four legs and has a magnificent set of horns.

Meet Copper. Copper and Beth have been friends for a very long time, but their unusual bond started in tragedy. Beth took Cooper in after his mother passed away.

“His mom was hit by a car and he was laying in the road,” Beth told the animal channel The Dodo, “and I couldn’t leave him there. It was hot. He was dehydrated. I just went and picked him up and brought him home.”

Since then, Copper has been a permanent fixture in Beth’s house, or more specifically, her porch.

The two quickly came together with Copper insisting for her to be his new mom. Beth didn’t mind, though, because it feels great to be on the receiving end of Copper’s love.

“He bonded to me quickly, but I didn’t expect him to be so affectionate” she explained, “He is super sweet and very loving.”

Even if her porch wasn’t the forest where he’s supposed to be, Copper thrived in an environment of love. In fact, he gets so comfortable sometimes that he gets reprimanded for stepping into the house. Beth was adamant to keep Copper outside so that he won’t get used to shelters beyond the wilderness.

He’s not alone outside, though.

He also quickly bonded with Beth’s other pets, most especially Rocky. The two of them play a lot together and are almost inseparable. Beth explains that Rocky follows Copper sometimes, but in most cases, it is Copper who always follows Rocky like he’s some kind of shadow.

Whenever Beth whistles, a brown tuff of fur hops towards the porch, ready to get some rubs and a buckets full of love. Her efforts of looking after Copper wasn’t in vain, though, because eventually, she noticed two small bumps on Copper’s crown.

The proud mother excitedly shared how well Copper was growing up and how he slowly eases into life into the wild.

While others want to be friends with forest animals, Beth is relieved that she’s the only one Copper isn’t afraid of.

Even if he’s almost a permanent fixture around their neighborhood, Beth still secretly wishes that he adjusts to the life that was meant for him.

This wish wouldn’t take long to manifest, however, as Copper became less and less visible on her porch. There are days where he doesn’t show up anymore, but there are also days that he does. Sometimes, he’ll show up then be gone for two days, or he’ll visit her in the morning then would be gone the rest of the day.

This doesn’t make Beth nervous, though.

Especially because neighbors constantly update her whenever they see Copper.

In his latest visits, Copper’s nubs are already a foot long, and they are splitting on the tips to make his first antlers.

He wouldn’t be able to enjoy his life as a young adult deer, however, if Beth didn’t pick him up on the road that fateful day.

And while he’s not around her house as often as before, he knows that there’s a porch that he can always call home.

Watch how this fawn grows up with a human mom and dog brothers and become the stag that he’s meant to be.
