Family gives dog a step stool so he can visit friends over the fence
"My initial reaction was to bust up laughing," said the dog's owner. "Seeing his little feet fully extended and his tail all blurred out from wagging too fast, I couldn't help it."

We all know that true friendship is difficult to come by and when it does, we try to keep these “valuable” friends close to us. No one would be surprised if the same applied to our four-legged friends.

Dogs are considered humans’ best friends and not unreasonably so, as they can be awfully loyal and protective of us. Now, imagine how would a friendship between dogs be! Definitely, we would expect nothing less than devotion and affection. Well, then the following story will not disappoint you.

Our story starts in a house where two Great Danes reside, Vito and Bambino. The people familiar with dog breeds would know that Great Danes are quite big animals, they are known as “gentle giants” or the “Apollo of dogs”. Their elegant appearance might fool you to believe that they are imposing as animals but on the contrary, they are very sweet and playful.

So, around six months ago, a new family moved into the house next door, and Vito and Bambino got a great surprise, as they got a new four-legged neighbor, a chocolate Lab named Giuseppe. Of course, the two Great Danes wanted immediately to meet their new friend, however, the big wall, separating the houses’ yards was posing a problem!

Vito and Bambino decided that one walled-fence wouldn’t be enough to keep them from meeting Giuseppe, so they decided to head over there and just look into the neighboring yard. It was quite normal for the two “giant” dogs, due to their height, to stand on their two back feet and peek over the wall and into the yard next door without any particular problem.

However, for poor Giuseppe, this would prove a challenge as he was much smaller and shorter than his two other friends! The wall was just too high for Giuseppe to see over. Afton Tarin, the “mom” of the two Great Danes told to the Dodo, “He has tried many times to jump up and get a good whiff of his big doggy friends whenever we’re all outside”.

And, while Vito and Bambino were able to see Giuseppe, on the other side of the wall, the family of Giuseppe was witnessing their dog’s failed attempts to have a peek of his two new friends. Until, Robert Carnes, the “dad” of Guiseppe had an incredible idea! He remembered that they had a spare step stool in their garage, like the one the little kids use when they aren’t tall enough to reach the sink.

They placed the stool in front of the stoned wall and Giuseppe didn’t think twice, he jumped on top of it and was finally able to have a good look at his two friends. And, was it cute? It definitely was one of the sweetest scenes ever! The new friends directly exchanged “proper” greetings which were captured by Carnes on his phone.

Afton Tarin confessed, “My initial reaction was to bust up laughing,” and it would be justified as she said, “Seeing his little feet fully extended and his tail all blurred out from wagging too fast, I couldn’t help it. So stinkin’ cute. It definitely gives you that feel-good feeling”.

The two families after seeing how affectionate all three dogs were with each other they decided to help their friendship blossom even further, by arranging play dates and walks for them. As Tarin explained, “It’s super nice having that sort of relationship with our next-door neighbors.”

So, for all the dog owners out there, it is important to treat your “pets” as part of your family and give them the necessary attention and support as they would. It’s important for them too, to be able to socialize with other dogs or in general animals.
