Cory Williams, the owner of the late, great Sparta “The Mean Kitty” wanted to know what his dog Penny would do if he were to just drop dead one day.
He had already tried the trick with Sparta 2 years ago and got, well, the reaction you’d expect from a cat (as well as over 20 million views from humans).
But dogs are different. Would Penny be scared? Nervous? Completely unimpressed?
There was only one way to find out.
The dog belongs to his wife Kristin, who rescued her from a junkyard years earlier. But they’d been married a long time by this time, so Penny was everyone’s dog.
In general, Penny seems non-plussed by the day – and whoever is holding the recording device.
Williams enters the room and begins to “die” right near Penny’s bed.
She seems pretty ok with it – then again, living with one of YouTube’s most famous cats means that she’s probably already used to these kinds of antics.
Dad is on the floor, looking pretty dead(ish) now. And, to be fair, Penny is curious.
At least she stood up to get a better view.
But let’s face it, dogs can be pretty anxious and they feed off of our energy.
They’re also very perceptive though, so it’s likely that Penny can see dad breathing.
Ultimately, she decides this is a moment worth investigating further. After all, it could be a new game!
She heads over to dad since he’s on the floor anyway.
After giving him a good sniff, she’s a little unimpressed. If this is a game, it certainly isn’t fun.
She even heads back to her bed for a moment to regroup.
Dad’s on the floor, he’s not being much fun – so what next?
The weird stillness in the room gets the best of her as she heads back to the “dead” human.
It’s time to take matters into her own hands.
The little pup launches a full-scale frontal attack that goes sideways quickly – quite literally – when she manages to crash over onto dad’s head. For good measure, she rubs herself all over his face with her entire squirmy body.
Penny is making up her own rules to this game now and they involve headbutting and even knocking the baseball cap right off of her dad’s head!
Hey, if he’s going to be a punk, you might as well punk him back.
After giving him what can only be called the “full Penny” maneuver again, she’s starting to seem a little stressed out.
That or she’s very much over this stupid game in which there appears to be no winners or prizes. After all, she’s the only one playing here!
You’ll have to scroll down below to see how Williams ends the game and puts Penny out of her misery, but needless to say that the sweet pup’s reaction was more satisfactory than Sparta’s.
And what did the famous Mean Kitty have to say about all of this?
He’s deeply unamused, to say the least.
Leave it to dogs to embarrass themselves by caring about their human owners when they fall to the floor in agony.
