Janet Adamowicz got her cat Boo when she was just a kitten. The little kitten was lively and friendly, and Janet loved having her in her home. But sadly, in 2005, when Boo was four years old, she went missing. Janet looked everywhere, put up tons of posters, and put a notice in the paper, but Boo never turned up.

Over the next 13 years, Janet often thought about Boo, and she hoped the cat was safe. After so many years, she never thought she would see the cat again.

In 2008, after Boo had been missing for four years, Janet decided to take in a three-legged cat named Ollie. Then, in 2014, she took home a cat named Tessie. Still, Janet never forgot Boo.

In the summer of 2018, Janet received a call from a veterinarian who worked forty miles away from her hometown of Harrogate, England. The vet said she had her missing cat.

At first, Janet thought the veterinarian was talking about Tessie or Ollie, but both cats were in her home. But then, the vet clarified—she had a 17-year-old cat with a microchip that had Janet’s information on it.

Janet was shocked. After 13 years, Boo had finally turned up.

Janet drove over to the veterinary clinic with a friend. There, she saw Boo for the first time in over a decade. As soon as Boo saw Janet, it was clear she remembered her. Boo started rubbing Janet and purring loudly.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the building,” a spokesperson for the vet told SWNS. “Boo recognized her mum straight away and within minutes the two were thoroughly enjoying plenty of face rubs, cuddles and meows.”

Janet was amazed to see Boo, and she was happy that Boo looked well-fed and healthy.

“I don’t know where she had been, I think possibly a stray but kept being fed by strangers – or catching her own food,” Janet said. “She has done well as a 17-year-old cat to last that long as a stray cat – it really is remarkable.”

Now, Boo is back where she belongs at Janet’s house. She gets along well with Janet’s other cats, and she loves spending time with her long-lost owner.

This heartwarming story shows how important it is to microchip pets—without Boo’s microchip, this reunion would have never taken place. We’re so glad that Boo was able to reconnect Janet. Now, Boo has the perfect forever home for her golden years!
