Was this dump-worthy or just a misunderstanding?

You ever caught flak for something you didn’t think was a big deal? It’s happened to all of us. Some people just have different standards and boundaries.

It can be really difficult to please everyone. But what if those people are just jumping to conclusions?

This woman’s boyfriend found himself in hot water with her TikTok followers.

Erica, who goes by @bricksmom on TikTok, has a dog and a man in her life. And she shares how much she loves them both on her profiles.

It was a video where her boyfriend seems to insult her dog.

Erica has security cameras installed around her home. They allow her to have a clear view of the area in case someone shady is around. They’re also great for seeing what shenanigans her dog and her boyfriend might’ve been up to.

Her dog and boyfriend had been playing for a while and she wanted to check in on them.

In the video, her boyfriend leaves a toy on the lawn chair and mutters “D*ck” to the dog as he goes inside.

The video is only 9 seconds long in total. So if you’re only watching those 9 seconds, it can look like nothing more than him being mean to the dog.

That’s certainly what the comments thought.

A good chunk of the comments called it a “red flag” and told her to leave him. Pretty blunt, huh?

It’s true that the way someone treats animals can often reflect their true colors. But her man’s not exactly mistreating this dog either. It’s just friendly jabs and banter between two best friends!

Erica, after seeing all the comments, followed up with another video that painted a better picture.

A floating text bubble read “For everyone saying I should leave my BF for calling my dog a d*ck”, and was promptly followed by a compilation of photos showing how close the two were. Erica’s dog and boyfriend were the best of friends.

They play together, chill on the couch together, and would never hurt each other.

That insult he muttered in that footage was nothing more than friendly banter between best friends.

She even admits that her dog can indeed be a d*ck sometimes. That’s fair.

In fact, looking through Erica’s TikTok, her boyfriend and dog seem to be the most precious things to her.

She eventually wed her boyfriend as well, so you know she wasn’t leaving him anytime soon.

And her dog was there every step of the way.

Moral of the story: Context means a lot, and you shouldn’t judge so harshly based on a small snapshot of someone’s life!

A 9 second video convinced people her husband hated her dog. But taking a bit of time to see more of their life together, it’s clear that nothing could be further from the truth.

Erica even cheekily reuploaded the video a year later as a kind of celebration. Her caption this time read, “Happy 1 year anniversary to this extremely “controversial” video 😂”.
