With a name like Catcher, this ornery pup was pretty much doomed from the start.

Because “catch her” is exactly what one FedEx driver did after he found the pooch getting her jollies outside, with no leash or puppy parent in sight!

He could have just called the local animal shelter on the hapless little runaway, but true to his job description, this guy was keen on hand delivering the special package back to her home address.

Lisa Menzies was out of town with her husband when the couple’s 3-year-old golden retriever went on the lam. It happened right after a mysterious breeze blew open the front door, and the pooch suddenly found herself in a “choose your own adventure” game!

She was at a crossroads and had an important decision to make: was she going to be a good girl and stay home, or be a bad dog and run away?

Of course, any puppers would be mad not to take the opportunity to explore the world outside. So what Catcher did next wasn’t entirely unexpected!

Footage from a Ring doorbell camera clearly shows Catcher slipping out of the family’s house in Castle Pines, Colorado.

She could be seen taking a few tentative steps towards the lawn before disappearing around the corner and into the great big unknown!

Now, doors don’t normally just swing open with the first breeze that comes knocking, so in an interview with KDVR, Lisa quickly explained how something like this could even happen.

“We were getting some repairs done on the house. Our contractor left to go to lunch and shut the front door, and the wind blew the door open while I was gone, and Catcher escaped.”

Catcher has learned a lot of doggy tricks over the years, but the one trick she could never quite master was The Great Escape.

The curious pooch just wanted to see more of the world, maybe get a tattoo of a butterfly, and perhaps experiment with sniffing a bunch of different fire hydrants.

But sadly for her, she didn’t get very far. The stupid grownups in her life put an immediate stop to those plans!

No one really knows what kind of trouble the retriever got herself into before she was caught, but barking up the wrong FedEx truck was certainly the biggest mistake she made.

Lisa had no idea that Catcher had even escaped until she received a text from the driver, who found her number on the dog’s collar.

“He just said, ‘I found your dog, and the address on her tag is where I’m going to take her’ and then he put her in the house with such care.”

Look at that face! Catcher had literally been caught red-handed, and it totally showed.

Lisa was beside herself with laughter when she saw the FedEx driver carrying the big blonde pooch in his arms. He looked like a groom whisking away his bride on their wedding day!

“Seeing him carry her into the house like that … in my head, I was thinking of the theme song from the Titanic. He was taking such care and love with her that it was really amusing.”

Once Catcher safe inside the house, Lisa monitored the Ring doorbell cam to make sure she was only up to her usual tricks, like frolicking on the floor with a tennis ball in her mouth.

“He interrupted his day and his package delivery schedule to pick her up and hand-carry her into our home and lock the door behind him. I don’t want to think about where else she could have ended up.”

As of this writing, Lisa still doesn’t know the name of the hero who saved her doggo.

“He left me a message on my phone when he put the dog in the house. Other than to thank him, via text, I don’t know him personally. So we haven’t seen him again yet.”

In the meantime, Catcher’s solo adventuring days are done for. At least until the next big breeze comes along.
