It might be a slapstick prop or something one would use for a prank.
But for this donkey, the screaming rubber chicken might be one of the best things he received in his life.
For us, this silly toy is just for gags. Looking at its wide eyes, “O” shaped mouth, and the long droning cry it makes are enough to make anyone curl down the floor and leave them in stitches.
This adorable donkey isn’t immune to this childish charm.
In two and a half minute long video posted by Viral Hog, a 9-year-old donkey is in for a surprise. The video starts with the person on the video holding up a screaming chicken.
The donkey quickly showed interest and approached the fence. Then, the person dropped the chicken on the ground and gave it a stomp.
The donkey squealed and swung its head in enjoyment.
Then, they tossed the gift into the enclosure but not before giving the donkey some generous petting.
The donkey didn’t waste any time. It quickly grabbed onto the chicken and made it squeal.
The donkey was so happy it started marching around the enclosure, quite proud of this bizarre yet hilarious present.
At one point, it even stood up on its hind legs!
Maybe the fun was just so hard to contain and we totally understand this fellow.
According to the video’s description, the donkey is “crazy about jolly balls and squeaky and screaming chickens.”
But he’s not the only one who’s having fun with the toy. In fact, the squeaky chicken is so much more than a funny gimmick.
This toy started as a prop in slapstick comedy where actors would whack each other for laughs.
It has also found home on the internet, especially TikTok where videos of screaming chicken comedy bits and pranks made rounds.
But one of its most important contributions is to science. How, you ask? NASA used a screaming rubber chicken as an ambassador for their space programs.
It was an unorthodox choice but it definitely worked.
Camilla Corona, named after the rays of the sun, is a mascot from NASA.
They also described her as a STEM Ambassador. Camilla’s job is to make children and adults comfortable with asking “stupid questions.”

They believed that with Camilla’s innate silliness, people would be much more confident to ask about anything they’re curious about.
Camilla even has her own space suit. However, she’s not making any spacewalks anymore.
Whether it’s for science or just for laughs, everyone agrees on this donkey’s adorableness.
