Is there anyone left on the planet who doesn’t know the iconic Lion King song, “The Circle of Life”?

Of course not. Everyone knows it the moment they hear those opening words, “Nants ingonyama…”.

It’s a song of celebration, and it’s not meant for humans only.

Even donkeys know the song.

That’s what Travis Kinley found out recently when he decided to sing the intro part of the track with his friend Nathan the donkey.

He captured the whole moment on video and the short clip is absolutely hilarious.

“Did the Lion King opening and Nathan joined in with me! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I love this dude!” the video caption explains.

Travis hashtagged it #IWokeUpLikeThis.

There is no better way to start the day than by joining your animal friends out in the lush green forest fields to sing some Lion King.

“I had to get all the animals around me for this one,” said Travis.

Behind him in the scene was a beautiful brown horse and a friendly donkey named Nathan.

The animals never expected they were about to be serenaded, but that’s exactly what happened.

“Nants ingonyama bagithi baba,” Travis sang.

That famous opening line is actually sung in Zulu, the most widely spoken home language of South Africa.

When translated to English, it means “here comes a lion, father”.

And, maybe in some strange way, the donkey understood the translation because the words definitely got him pretty wound up.

Nathan was compelled to join in.

The excited donkey let out a very loud “hee-haw” in the background and once he got started, he didn’t want to stop.

He couldn’t help but join in on the fun with Travis.

On the other hand, the horse totally ignored them. He must have thought they were crazy.

The most surprising part of the performance though was how Nathan was able to match Travis’s tempo.

While understandably, the donkey couldn’t exactly pronounce the words correctly, he could stay right on pace with the melody.

It cracked Travis up.

After a few rounds of going back and forth singing with each other, he couldn’t help but start smiling.

We don’t blame him. Trying to do a duet with a donkey is a task that’s bound to send anyone into fits of laughter, even the most serious among us.

People online ate it up.

Since Travis posted the video on Facebook a few weeks ago, it has already been shared over 6 million times.

Some people even put the video on repeat.

One of this man’s kids watched the video around 50 times. That’s pretty incredible.

We wonder if Nathan the donkey is aware of how famous his singing has become.

This donkey is a star.
