Before 2020, Zoom was an app that only few people had heard of. After all, who needs to bother with video calls when you can just go for a face-to-face meeting over a nice meal or cup of coffee?
The pandemic was quick to change all of that- and in all honesty, being able to sit down for a virtual meeting with a glass of wine as opposed to a cup of coffee really isn’t the worst thing in the world.
Zoom calls between colleagues and classmates are now incredibly common – and have produced some brilliant viral content over the past year or so.

One man decided that he was going to use Zoom in the best way possible – by hosting a ‘job performance’ call between himself and his two dogs!
The man behind the hilarious video is called Andrew Cotter, a Scottish broadcaster who usually spends his time covering golf and rugby. Like the rest of the world, Zoom calls soon probably became a regular occurrence in Andrew’s life. But his favorite calls were with two very important work colleagues: his two dogs, Olive and Mabel.
At the time, sporting events had been put on hold, so Andrew had plenty of time on his hands. And what better way to fill that time than by hosting a zoom call for your dogs?

Throughout the whole call, Andrews’s deadpan responses and facial expressions have us in stitches! His dry and witty humor is a brilliant contrast to the two goofy-looking dogs who are staring with slightly confused expressions into the camera.
The call begins like a standard Zoom call would, with Andrew being the first to arrive. He then sits and waits for his “coworkers” to join.

Andrew has taken on the role of a company manager, and tells the dogs that he wants to chat about “the situation at the moment,” and asks if they can go ahead and get the meeting started.
The chime bell then lets us know that somebody has joined the meeting – and if you’re watching the video for the first time, you honestly have no idea that a dog’s face is going to pop up in such a ‘serious’ meeting!
Mabel represents that one colleague who has no idea how to use their own phone. It takes her quite a while to get her video working.

Olive, on the other hand, is clearly in line for employee of the month. She gets her video working almost instantly, and sits waiting with perfect ‘internet manners’ to see what the meeting is going to be about.
“Olive! Hi, thanks for joining us. Mabel…you are connected but you need to start your video. Down at the bottom of the screen, the little camera, it looks like a biscuit actually, just nudge it with your nose.”
Andrew informs the dogs about news “from the head office,” and reassures them that they don’t have to worry about their jobs.

It’s great news for the dogs when they find out that nobody will be getting furloughed. Now there’s a word that we never want to hear again in 2021.
Mabel’s “lack of focus” is also addressed, and it’s clear that this pup has some improvements to make.

Each time Andrew stops the meeting to address whatever Mabel is doing incorrectly, the situation becomes more and more comical. Our highlight is when Mabel accidentally switches her camera off in the middle of the call. She’s such a technophobe!
Next, it’s time to hear the facts and figures.

The “company report” sees both of the dogs get a bit of a grilling off their manager. Their performance simply hasn’t been up to scratch- and Andrew has the data to prove it.
“There are things that we have to try and improve on. I’m uncomfortable with this chat as well. The annual report says that you have pretty much ruined the sofas. 913 squirrels chased and none caught, so… not a good return.”
Olive seems to be doing a lot better than Mabel.

Mabel is feeling that Zoom call boredom that we’ve all experienced. She’s getting rather fidgety, and ends up being muted due to her making too much noise! Meanwhile, golden girl Olive is informed that she will be getting a bonus for better behavior.
We don’t know about you, but we feel like we can relate more to Mabel than Olive.

As the meeting draws to an end, Andrew reads out a memo that was sent out by the executives. He reads the letter flatly and straightfaced, without any emotion.
“You’re a good dog, yes you are. Who is a good dog? You’re a good dog.”
