Dogs and their owners have a unique bond.
It’s one of the things that makes our bond with dogs so special. No matter how long you’re apart, your dog will always remember you.
A man named Joshua learned this firsthand when he had to leave his dogs for a couple of months. The dogs missed Joshua, and he missed them right back.
In an episode of “Pit Bulls and Parolees” on Animal Planet, volunteers Tia and Mariah performed a touching gesture that is quickly going viral.
Tia and Mariah had heard of Joshua’s story and were touched by it. He was a war veteran who, upon returning to civilian life, found it hard to adapt and cope with. He felt out of place and was completely isolated from others.
“Just going from a warzone to a civilian life and, you know, you feel totally isolated, you feel totally alone… my dogs were the only people that were there for me,” Joshua said in a YouTube video.
He came to love and adore two dogs that showed him the loyalty and support he needed to get back on his feet.
Named Panda and Mama, these two dogs stuck with Joshua when nobody else would.
“I slept inside a closet before because it’s small and had a small door on it and made me feel safe… And you open the door and there are four little eyes staring at you, because they’re there,” Joshua said.
However, heartbreak struck when Joshua was forced to move to California.
He couldn’t bring Mama and Panda with him, so he left them behind in Louisiana. He dearly missed his dogs, and he asked Tia and Mariah to bring them to California for him.
They drove the dogs to Joshua, where they reunited in Los Angeles.
Joshua’s reunion with his two dogs is absolutely touching. It’s immediately clear his dogs missed him so much. They begin to wag their tails rapidly, and they jump on and kiss their owner.
More importantly, the two dogs are finally eating again. They stopped eating when Joshua left.
“I’m just ecstatic they’re back. I feel complete,” Joshua said.
Mariah was also touched by the reunion. She was thrilled to be part of it.
“I would do this drive 20 more times, back to back to back, knowing that I got to do that, that I got to reunite them. Just to see that moment,” Mariah said.
We’re so glad Joshua and his dogs are back together where they belong, and the moment the dogs see each Joshua and their tails start wagging is beautiful to watch.
