It might still only be September, but in our eyes, it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas. And what better way to get in the Christmas spirit by reading a few Christmassy stories? If you’re up for some December 25th vibes, then we’ve got you covered – and this next story is a pretty special one.
When a man returned from some time away just before Christmas, he knew that he had to surprise the two most special people in his life: his two dogs. But he was determined to think of a creative way to greet them, and what’s more appropriate to Christmas time than wrapping yourself up as a huge gift? The man filmed his dogs’ adorable reaction and shared it onto YouTube, and it’s the sweetest thing we’ve seen today.
The adorable reunion video, titled, “Dogs Open Best Christmas Present EVER,” was shared onto YouTube by The Dodo in 2017, and since then has received a staggering 1.6 million views, as well as hundreds of thousands of likes and comments.
The sweet clip begins with the man lowering a huge box over his head which has been wrapped in festive red paper. Then the fun part arrives, and one by one his dogs are let into the room to check out their extra special Christmas gift.
The first dog to be let loose with his new gift is a German Shepherd, and he wastes no time in sniffing out the huge box. Despite not being able to see what’s inside, we’re pretty sure that the dog is instantly aware of what’s going on! We reckon that he’s able to sniff out the scent of his beloved owner, and his excitement is pretty evident.
After sniffing all around the box, the clever boy manages to knock it over – revealing his owner inside! Touchingly, the dog is so excited to be reunited with his owner that he simply cannot wait any longer for cuddles – and he leaps inside the box to join the man inside. You can see just how excited he is by his tail, which is wagging at a mile a minute.
And the owner looks completely overjoyed too. As he is knocked to the ground by the force of his dog’s licks and cuddles, he just can’t take the huge smile off his face. How sweet!
Now it’s time for the man to surprise his second dog: a little white chihuahua. As the little guy enters the room, he has pretty much the exact same reaction of his brother, and despite the man being covered by the huge, gift-wrapped box, he manages to sniff him out almost immediately!
As well as serving as a reminder that Christmas is just around the corner (three months isn’t too long, right?) this video has also reminded us that every day with our loved ones is a blessing. We really do take for granted every day that we get to cuddle up with our pets, and some people don’t always get that opportunity! Watch the adorable video below.
