How about a story about a hilarious dog to brighten your day?

It’s no secret that dogs are as diverse in their personalities as we are.

Some are stoic, some are noble, some are goofballs and some are true actors.

Then there is Charlie the dog.

Charlie is a very good boy, he’s quite goofy and funny but more than anything he’s super cute and smiley!

And he was clearly the main focus of his dad’s wedding!

The new bride was relegated to the unfocussed background!

Charlie is frequently the subject of his dad’s Twitter account.

There’s nothing Charlie’s dad, Bubba Atkinson, loves more than posting pictures of Charlie doing hilarious things with hilarious captions!

Charlie is often blocking out haters

or providing some one word wisdom to his myriad internet fans!

Most recently, Bubba posted a video to Twitter of his return home.

Charlie had gotten into the trash and really torn it up.

But the video wasn’t detailing the event itself, it all takes place in the aftermath.

Charlie knew he dun goofed and was feeling very guilty.

In the video, Charlie can be seen peeking out at his dad and slowly coming out from behind a corner. Bubba asks Charlie one simple question:

“Did you get in the trash?”

He is definitely having some fun at Charlie’s expense, but he isn’t mad! Charlie is very nervous and essentially has his tail between his legs but Bubba handles it very well.

He tells Charlie to sit and lets him sit in his guilt and nervousness.

All while he’s capturing the whole reaction on video! But beyond that, Charlie’s internal guilt was punishment enough.

According to the experts, Bubba behaved perfectly by remaining calm!

Jim Burwell at PetiquetteDog.com writes:

“Stop Getting Angry at Your Dog. Part of the solution is to learn to project calm energy. Your dog will do much better with you being calm. Getting mad causes your dog to feel stressed and anxious.

“When you get angry at your dog, you express your anger with action and emotions.
Your dog responds to your actions by freezing, running away or biting. The last thing you want is to cause your dog to bite you. […]

“Quit getting ticked off at your dog – train your dog until you get the results you want.”

If words from a dog trainer with 30 years of experience won’t convince you,

check out this article from Science Alert on the same topic!

“When all was said and done, he found that the dogs delayed their reactions when the pointer was visibly angry. This suggests that dogs do not trust their human masters as much when they’re perceived to be mad. Flom also reports that, compared to the control group, positive vocal cues did not increase the dog’s reaction times, but negative emotions significantly delayed them.

“Flom concludes that dogs use our tone and emotion to determine how fast to follow an order.”

“So what’s the takeaway here? Well, for us everyday dog owners,

“the real lesson is that if you want your dog to react to your commands as fast as possible, you should speak to them in a normal or happy tone.

“Otherwise, the response is delayed, because you’re probably freaking it out a bit with your grumpy voice.

“The study also hints at just how close a bond humans have with their dogs. In fact, this has been the subject of many recent studies. Last year, researchers working the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that dogs can significantly lower stress and anxiety levels in children, and another study found that dogs are capable of acts of kindness to those they are familiar with.”

Dogs already know when they’ve messed up, otherwise we wouldn’t have so many hilarious guilty dog videos!

We don’t need to make it worse for them.

And they are such pure hearted little creatures that they really deserve nothingless than to be completely showered in love and nothing but.
