What would you do if your backyard was just invaded by a coyote? It happened to these two dogs and they barely escaped disaster after their wild cousin appeared out of nowhere as they were playing in the backyard!
Coyote chases two dogs in their own backyard
The video you’re about to watch begins rather innocently, with those lovely canines playing in their backyard but then we see a coyote appear out of nowhere and race straight at the dogs!
Initially, the dogs appeared as if they wanted to play with the invader but soon realized the coyote was up to no good. The smaller dog, Brody, even attempted to approach the coyote only to discover that it was a big mistake!
Brody got herself in trouble: the moment she got close to the beast, the coyote began chasing her.
You run or you die
Unfortunately, Brody was unable to outrun the wild animal. The coyote closed in on her in a matter of seconds and grabbed Brody by the neck. We then hear Brody whimper and struggle against her attacker.
The predator attempted to flee the backyard holding Brody in its jaws and would have succeeded if it had not been for an amazing turn of events that saved the dog from certain death.
Brody was saved by her collar!
The backyard was secured by an electronic invisible fence that sends a small electric charge to Brody’s collar to prevent her from leaving the yard. It was the collar that saved Brody’s life. The coyote got shocked – quite literally and was forced to drop Brody and flee.
Brody suffered only some minor puncture wounds but it could have been much worse for her if the collar hadn’t been there to save her from the coyote’s clutches.
Coyotes have adapted to urban areas
It’s not uncommon to find coyotes wandering about urban areas, as well as suburbs, even though they are solitary animals who prefer to stay away from humans. However, stray coyotes pose a threat to pets and domestic animals.
Coyotes are usually not larger than a medium-size dog and much smaller than a wolf who is their distant cousin. Here’s what you can do to deter coyotes from invading your backyard and potentially harming your pets.
The most effective method of getting rid of coyotes is to stop feeding your pets outside and keeping all food inside. Coyotes are also known to break into garbage cans so make sure you keep your garbage cans out of their reach!
Brody was extremely lucky to escape with her life but things could’ve turned out quite differently. We are glad that this story ended well and the coyote is back into the wild where it belongs.
