It was a perfect day for a stroll in the park. The sun was shining. People were out on bicycles.
Who wouldn’t want to bring their dog for a walk?
The answer? Probably the person who owns this dog.
Taking advantage of the good weather
A Labrador was out taking his human for a walk in the park. No, it wasn’t the human taking the dog for a walk. This would become apparent rather quickly.
The dog was enjoying the sunshine and hanging out next to the grass in what must have felt like the perfect spot. There was absolutely no way he was ready to go home so soon.
A little stubborn
His human tugged on the leash to indicate that it was time to go. He just looked at her. When it was apparent that she still wanted something, he flopped over and rolled onto his back so she could give him belly rubs.
Obviously, that must have been what she wanted to do. Because walking out of the park on such a nice day would just be crazy as far as he was concerned.
Playing dead
Still, she continued to tug on the leash. He stayed on his back, looking up at her. She might have managed to drag him about three inches before giving up on that strategy.
So, she went back to dramatically gesturing in the direction of home, indicating that he should walk with her. He wasn’t listening.
So many witnesses
Across the pathway and on a bench sat someone recording it all and giggling, understandably. As the dog and his “owner” continued to stay in the exact spot the dog wanted to remain in, people continued to go about their day.
People rode by on bicycles. There were other people whizzing by on rollerblades. Two men jogged by. Even a slowly strolling woman was moving faster than the dog and the person at the other end of his leash.
It was like everyone was in movement, and all of the world was passing by, but the dog wanted no part in it. He just wanted to enjoy the park.
The woman stood there, exasperated and defeated, as he soaked in the sun. There was no way she was actually going to get out of the park with the dog on the other end of the leash acting like an anchor.
Going viral
The Labrador may not have moved far while he was in the park, but the video of him staying still went far and wide.
Viewers on TikTok were dying with laugher as they watched the video over and over again. The video has well over 330,000 likes.
People talked about similar experiences, laughed together, and offered advice such as bringing a few dog treats next time.
They aren’t the only ones to suggest treats. Even the pros do.
As for one of the reasons that Paw Leaks Modern Dog Training lists for why a dog commonly won’t budge – too much fun. I think we found the cause!
As for the dog…
You can check out the video below to see how successful he was in not moving a bit.

There’s also a small chance that he might have moved after that – possibly.
You’ll have to check out this next video to find out if they ever managed to leave the park or if they now live there.
