I can't believe Scout's story actually happened.

A clever dog named Scout escaped from a nearby animal shelter not just once, but three times!

Apparently, he had people to see and he wasn’t willing to put it off.

His favorite place to go was Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility, a nursing home for seniors.

This brave dog managed to get past two fences, dodge traffic, and sneak into the lobby to sleep on a couch for the night.

It sounds like a story from a movie, but it really happened!

Knowing the probable reason why Scout acted in such a way.

When a surprised nurse found him the next morning, everyone realized that Scout was not your average stray dog.

He had a mysterious past and was named by the shelter staff because of his cautious behavior.

If you had the chance to pet him, you’d notice BBs or birdshot lodged in his jowl.

Even though a sheriff took Scout back to the shelter, he kept coming back to the nursing home couch—twice!

A kindhearted pooch.

Meadow Brook is about an hour away from Traverse City and takes care of seniors dealing with illnesses, dementia, or loneliness.

Somehow, Scout decided that this was his forever home.

The nursing home’s administrator, Marna Robertson, noticed how determined Scout was to be there and asked if anyone wanted a dog.

The answer was a big yes! Meadow Brook became Scout’s new home, and the seniors were very happy.

Today, Scout is more than just a pet; he’s a friend to the seniors living at Glacier Hill.

He walks around freely, visiting residents and lying down wherever he wants.

Scout is also smart; he knows how to open doors with his paws and find dog biscuits hidden in walkers. The nursing staff even held a fundraiser for the animal shelter that first took him in.

Scout has become very popular, and someone even came to meet him after seeing him on social media.

The internet star was named “Resident of the Month” in February and has his own bed and toys in the office.

Scout’s past, however, is still a mystery.

“All they knew is he was abused. He was just very scared,” explained the household coordinator, Jenni Martinek.

“Maybe he felt like it was a safe environment,” said Marna Robertson, the nursing home’s administrator. “He certainly has a penchant for the elders. If they have dementia or if they’re not going to be around much longer he knows that, and he will go and be with them and comfort them. He must’ve just felt like he needed to be here.”

Scout’s impact goes beyond just comforting the sick or lonely. When a resident was feeling sad because of a missed visit, Scout was there to cheer him up.

He attended a pizza party with the residents and staff, lying quietly at their feet.

Scout may not be able to talk, but he knows how to show love and be loved.
