Cleo the 4-year-old Labrador retriever-border collie mix moved to another state with her owners who she loved dearly. But apparently the sweet dog wasn’t completely content at her new home.

She was sad and missed her old home, her favorite place to nap, her beloved backyard and all its familiar smells.

The cutie pie canine was at her home for two years when Cleo finally gave in to the pull. She took off one day and never looked back.

She followed her nose, caught on the scent of her old place. And it led her to her old home in another state!

When they realized their precious Cleo was missing, her distraught owners posted on Facebook that their beloved dog was missing. They had no idea what Cleo had done.

Their hearts were broken at the thought of what might have happened to Cleo.

She had padded away from their Olathe, Kansas, home and followed the scent back to her old home in Lawson, Missouri. The new homeowner Colton Michael and his wife Britney came home from work and were surprised to find a strange dog at their house who appeared to be quite comfortable there.

“She got out of her car and said, ‘Where did the dog come from?’ Cleo was laying on the front porch at the front door, just laying there, waiting for somebody it seemed like.”

The distance between the two homes was 57 miles!

It took Cleo several days to reach her old home and she had to cross at least one river to reach it or fight her way through heavy traffic to travel on a bridge over that river.

“That’s a hike for anybody.”

She seemed a bit out of sorts, but that’s completely understandable. She really wasn’t impressed when she found other people at her house, either.

“She finds her way home, and there’s some strangers living in it. That would be scary for anybody.”

She wasn’t wearing a dog collar but was clearly groomed and too well taken care of to be a stray, Colton and his wife thought. So they had scanned for a microchip and learned who her owners were.

Colton perused Facebook to try and find the previous owners of the home. That’s when he found their missing dog photo from a week ago!

No matter how Cleo navigated the path home, her owners were thrilled that someone found her and contacted them, dog dad Drew Feeback said.
“It just feels really good to be reunited with her. It’s the most bizarre story. Really, she’s everything to us and to my mother.”
