Have you ever wondered why your new puppy or kitten was able to know some things you haven’t taught yet? Well, that’s because your other pets are doing it for you! A rare moment of a dog teaching a puppy was even caught on camera, and it will surely melt your heart.

Their mom was about to feed them some treats when this happened

This woman calls her two dogs over for some yummy treats. She is also planning to train her little pup, Jet, how to sit and beg for treats. The puppy’s big brother Rufus was sitting behind, also waiting for the yummy treats to be given by their mom.

First, mom goes to Jet with a treat on her hand. However, before she feeds it to the hungry pup, she tells him to ‘sit.’ Since it was taking so long for Jet to sit, Rufus became impatient for his turn.

That’s when Rufus pushed his paw on his baby brother’s rear.

He probably realized that his baby brother doesn’t understand what their mom was saying just yet. That’s why he gave Jet a hand by pushing his paw downwards to force Jet into sitting down on the floor. Mom was incredibly impressed by what Rufus just did. After she gave a treat to the now-sitting Jet, he also rewarded Rufus for a job well done.

Rufus did it again for the second time.

Rufus’s fur-parents still cannot believe what just happened in front of them. To make sure, they decided to give them a second round of treats. This time, Rufus was the first one to get his share.

Jet was next, but Jet’s excitement keeps him from listening to his mom. Besides, it seems he still hasn’t understood what ‘sit’ meant.

Their mom tells Jet repeatedly to sit, but the third time she says it, Rufus pushes Jet down on the floor again. He even keeps his paw on his baby brother’s back so he’ll keep on sitting until Jet receives his treat.

The internet goes crazy for this very adorable clip

“Rufus: Let me help you out little one because you’re slowing down the treatment process for the both of us.”

I mean, who wouldn’t smile at this? With this big brother doggo teaching Jet the basics, you can’t argue as to how cute this is.

How do dogs learn from each other exactly?

Dogs learn by modeling other dogs, most especially those who are older than them. You can see puppies following their mom or their older brothers and imitating what they do on a daily basis. You’d just be surprised when you see your pups peeing at the right place as compared to them several weeks old.

Aside from puppies, dogs that owners just brought in could also learn from the dogs currently in the household. The newer dog observes their personalities and reactions to a bunch of things. Like if the current dogs are hyper and destructive, it wouldn’t take long enough for the newer dog to adopt the same behavior.

If you were able to teach your dog well, there’s a high chance that your new dog will be well-mannered as well.
