Live television has seen its fair share of unexpected interruptions, and pets have often been the culprits.
These furry invaders can sometimes cause a bit of chaos, but more often than not, they end up stealing the show with their adorable antics.
One such scene-stealer is Storm, a mini Goldendoodle, who has been turning heads since he was a pup, working alongside his human, Anthony Farnell.
Known affectionately as “Storm the Weather Dog,” this charming canine has been a regular feature on TV.
His name, Storm, was chosen through an online poll, which Anthony happily agreed to.
Anthony himself is no stranger to the limelight, having been in the weather industry since 2003 and ascending to the position of Chief Meteorologist at Global Toronto by 2006.
Storm, too, has carved out his own niche in the world of television.
He became an instant sensation when his head unexpectedly popped up during a Global News broadcast.
Luckily, it was during a feel-good story, and the video quickly went viral.
The surprise appearance was due to the “Take your dog to work” day campaign, which Anthony had enthusiastically participated in.
Since then, Storm has been known to make spontaneous appearances during live TV broadcasts, particularly during weather reports.
During one such regular weather broadcast, Anthony was delivering the news, explaining the weather conditions in various areas and forecasting the upcoming days.
As Anthony continued with the forecast, Storm sauntered into the frame.
While this scenario has become almost routine at the news agency, first-time viewers might find it a bit unusual, although endearing.
Despite the unexpected interruption, Anthony and Storm managed to stay on track with the news.
They both ad-libbed their way through the segment, maintaining their professionalism throughout.
Frankly, I don’t know how they did it!
While Anthony was discussing the upcoming temperatures, Storm was preoccupied with his own task—munching on his treats.
Impressively, the weather dog remained calm and professional whenever he was on camera.
Storm is a familiar face at the news agency, with his own daily routine.
Anthony shared that Storm makes a round of every desk in the station, hunting for treats.
His colleagues always have them ready, which Anthony jokingly says is a downside as Storm is gaining weight.
Storm often wanders off, and Anthony later finds him on the other side of the building.
Outside of work, Anthony and Storm are active community members.
They visit schools to teach children about weather and meteorology, and they also spend time at senior homes.
They support a growing list of causes and organizations, with a particular focus on K9-related ones due to Storm’s popularity.
They’ve participated in events like the Toronto Humane Society’s “Paws in the Park” and Global News’ “Dog Days Of Summer.”
On top of all that, Storm’s adorable “interruption” is something that is melting the internet’s heart!
One viewer commented:
“That was very entertaining..announcer did a great job..and doggy was well behave!💞”
Another wrote:
“The most feel good weather story I’ve ever seen hahaha. I want dogs always involved in weather updates. Amazing! 🤣”
